Dolores Huerta was a legend who did the work. She never tired, and she never backed down, despite huge personal cost.
To the most difficult labor fights, she brought the "¡Sí, se puede!" energy that unites working people in solidarity. She went toe-to-toe with some of the most exploitative bosses and won.
She inspired generation after generation of workers & activists, and she was always pushing for more. Last year, at 95, she reached out to recruit my support for an international human rights complaint against ICE.
Every one of us who cares about the dignity of workers, of immigrants, of human beings, and who knows we have to show up and fight for it owes Dolores an eternal debt of gratitude. From the California grape fields to the streets of NYC, her legacy will continue to be felt at every picket line, bargaining table & union hall.
¡Viva Dolores Huerta! ¡Orgullo de nuestra gentle!
¡Viva la mujer del campo! ¡Que en la lucha está presente!
