🎉 Congratulations to our postdoc Tomas Pachano (Stark lab) on joining the FWF’s ESPRIT programme! With support from the FWF, Pachano will study how pathogens manipulate human cells and aims to build the first pan-pathogen functional atlas of effector activity:
Sascha Amann won the 2026 Rabitsch Award! 🏆 A recent PhD graduate from the CryoEM Technology Platform, Amann received the award for his research on how the proteasome recognises and degrades proteins tagged with ubiquitin: bit.ly/4hQTCs1
Researchers from our Plaschka lab expected one molecular motor to dismantle the cell’s RNA-editing machine. Instead, they found three. Like three hands untying a knot, the motors act in sequence to take the spliceosome apart: bit.ly/4AQnqNQ
During Postdoc Appreciation Week, Vienna BioCenter postdocs hosted the Postdoc Networking Day—a lively day of new connections, shared ideas, and community at the IMP Lecture Hall.
She’s coming to the IMP, and she’s recruiting! 🔬 Doris Kaltenecker will join the IMP as a Group Leader in March 2027. Her lab will study organ-to-organ communication in systemic diseases, with a focus on cancer cachexia: imp.ac.at/news/article/doris…
🎉 Congratulations to our Julia Bubis, postdoc at the Proteomics Technology Hub, on receiving the 2026 ÖGMBT Life Sciences Research Award Austria. Her award-winning workflow can quantify up to 5,300 proteins in a single cell: bit.ly/46nTZF9
Exciting news! We're thrilled to announce the six outstanding laureates of the International Birnstiel Award for Doctoral Studies in Molecular Life Sciences 2026!
