📌 LungÕ 2026 - Virtual Global Congress on Lung Oncology | Scientific Sessions
LungÕ 2026 brings together international experts to explore advances in lung cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, focusing on evidence-based patient care. The scientific sessions highlighted emerging therapies, personalised treatment strategies, and advances in NSCLC management, emphasising the balance between treatment efficacy, safety, and accessibility.
Dr. Abinash Hota explored the evolving role of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) targeting TROP2, HER3, and B7-H3, focusing on treatment selection and strategies to prevent interstitial lung disease (ILD) and ocular toxicity from the beginning of treatment.
Early detection and treatment optimisation were also key themes.
Fahmi Zebari addressed the importance of lung cancer screening, highlighting its role in improving early diagnosis.
Dr Amr Sakr (
@Dr_Amr_Sakr) examined second-line treatment strategies for EGFR-mutated NSCLC following progression on osimertinib, focusing on the challenges of treatment sequencing after targeted therapy failure.
The discussions also highlighted advances in adjuvant treatment and the potential to improve long-term outcomes.
Ahmed Magdy Rabea (@arabea81presented) the five-year results from the IMpower010 trial, examining the role of adjuvant atezolizumab in resected NSCLC and what these findings mean for the possibility of cure.
Another important focus was the evolving role of local and multidisciplinary treatment approaches.
Vivek Ghosh (
@GhoshVivek23) explored how stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) is helping redefine the concept of lung cancer cure, while Francesco Passiglia (
@PassigliaFra), serving as moderator, guided discussions on whether new Phase III evidence can improve upon the PACIFIC treatment paradigm in unresectable stage III NSCLC.
Patient safety and treatment accessibility were also central to the programme.
AMARENDRA AMAR addressed practical approaches to managing immune-related adverse events (irAEs) and ADC-associated toxicities beyond tertiary care centres, emphasising the importance of making effective toxicity management accessible across different healthcare settings.
Finally, Arman Reza Chowdhury, serving as moderator, explored precision oncology in lung cancer through the perspective of Bangladesh, addressing the challenges, opportunities, and future directions for bridging the gap between innovation and access.
Together, these sessions highlighted key advances in lung oncology, emphasising personalised treatment, early detection, innovative therapies, and equitable access to quality care.
