Building prime brokerage on digital rails looks similar to what traditional finance built decades ago, except nobody’s actually finished doing it yet. @mikebelshe explains why BitGo spent years on safety and custody before touching anything else, and what that foundation now makes possible as the next layer gets built on top of it.

Someone buys digital assets, stores them on a device or an exchange, and one bad day wipes out years of saving. A lost password, a phishing email, or a failed device is all it takes. That loss comes from a security gap rather than market movement, and it is completely avoidable. BitGo has spent over a decade building infrastructure for the world’s largest institutions, with security designed to treat catastrophic loss as unacceptable. That same protection is now free for individual accounts, backed by a public, Fortune 500, federally regulated and insured bank. NEW: Kalshi is partnering with BitGo to let eligible Kalshi Prime clients borrow against bitcoin, ether, and GENIUS Act-compliant stablecoins to fund leveraged perpetual futures positions on its exchange. Loans will be provided by Kalshi Katalyst, a lending affiliate of Kalshi Prime, against assets held at BitGo Bank & Trust, with additional custodians expected to join the network, Bloomberg reports. Kalshi's perpetual futures market, which launched earlier this year, recorded about $1.1 billion in trading volume on Tuesday, according to DefiLlama data.

BlackRock’s $IBIT took in $665 million on Monday, its largest single day of 2026. This topped the previous yearly high of $648 million from January. With bitcoin climbing today, Monday looks like the opening move in hindsight. Flows and price rarely move in lockstep, yet this week the buyers arrived first.

Four years ago, many firms called themselves prime brokers. Few of them actually matched what institutional clients expect from traditional finance. That gap has closed. BitGo’s prime brokerage now spans OTC and electronic execution, lending, and expanded derivatives capabilities built alongside NYDIG’s trading team, all inside a regulated, insured custody framework. Adam Sporn, Head of Prime Brokerage and Institutional Sales at BitGo, explains what that actually looks like for clients.

Today, BitGo launched BitGo Labs, a research and innovation unit to explore and build the next breakout application for digital assets. If BitGo is the operating system crypto runs on, Labs is where we build the apps. We’re focused on use cases that only crypto can deliver, and we’re using AI and BitGo APIs to build them in months, not years. Among BitGo Labs’ first projects is @gokubupay, a consumer application that uses an AI-powered card designed to optimize your spending, accepted wherever Visa is accepted. Gokubu is already live and users can sign up today at gokubu.com. Learn how you can launch and scale quickly through BitGo Labs: businesswire.com/news/home/2…

Traditional finance is moving onto private, permissioned ledgers built for institutions, and BitGo is right there with it. On the Canton network, BitGo is the only regulated qualified custodian, supporting the infrastructure that lets firms like DTCC bring digital assets into their existing operations. CEO Mike Belshe explains what that role looks like.

Every other tech revolution starts the same way: venture capitalists and institutions get in first, retail catches up later. Bitcoin flipped that order entirely. @GregCipolaro, Head of Research at BitGo, explains why an asset class built from nothing in 2009 by technologists and risk-takers is only now seeing institutions show up, nearly two decades late.

Every institution weighing a stablecoin faces the same question: build it all in-house, or start from infrastructure that already exists? BitGo’s Stablecoin-as-a-Service gives banks, fintechs, and corporations a regulated path to issuance, with qualified custody, reserve management, minting and burning, and compliance tooling included from day one. Institutions should still run their own legal and compliance review, and infrastructure designed around US licensing and frameworks like the GENIUS Act gives that process a stronger footing. New from BitGo Research: bitcoin’s reaction to CPI surprises has grown stronger since 2020, the rate regime sets how big the move gets, and more macro traders using bitcoin to express views on inflation and policy is a likely explanation. Read the full piece by @GregCipolaro and follow for more. 👇

How would you secure a trillion dollar wallet? At that scale, protecting assets becomes a different kind of problem, one that has as much to do with physical security as anything digital. BitGo CEO @mikebelshe gets into it. 👇
