Ant's midrange game has been really, really good this season. And getting to it in all sorts of different ways.

Wolves starters came out super flat to start the 2nd half in Cleveland. Only bad start to a half thus far this season. So, surprising to me, Finch went with a full bench group to close the 3rd quarter... Beringer Lyles Shannon Hyland Dosunmu And Terrence Shannon Jr. was the engine of the offense, getting them to the end of the quarter tied with this sequence... - Shannon hits a 3 - dime to lyles in the corner for 3 - draws a foul driving to the basket - stepback 3 missed (beringer tips in) - draws another foul, this time and-1

Really feels like the numbers this season are going to say Ayo Dosunmu's presence on the floor impacts pace more than any other player on the Wolves.

Ant has done a great job of finishing his shifts this season. He knows when he has about 3 minutes of time at the end of his shifts when he's out there without LaMelo, and in those minutes he's upping his offensive aggression and opting to take the hardest defensive matchup (Mitchell tonight). It's a leave it all out there and then rest mentality. And that hasn't always been the case throughout his career. It's really stood out to me this season, and it's very clearly intentional.

That LaMelo Ball steal into a behind the back pass into a Jaden McDaniels dunk will get the attention, but he's been real solid on that end all game. Just being consistently solid. Teams like Cleveland, with multiple dynamic ball-handling scorers, are the teams the Wolves need this from LaMelo against.

For the last few seasons in Minnesota, the Wolves starting 5 felt more like the place the rotation of players coming in and out began and not like their best 5-man group. And because of that, they started *a lot* of games slowly. That's one thing that feels very different with this new group. They start games strongly. - The Wolves' starting 5 has shared the floor for 35 minutes thus far this season - They have won those 35 minutes by 32 points - Almost a point a minute - That’s a net rating of +40.4 - Which is the best net rating of any 5-man group in the league that has played over 25 minutes together thus far this season

"Him doing this so well is giving everybody else the freedom to be exactly who they want to be on the court. "It's been an incredible fit through three games. And if this is who he is and what they get out of him all season, then grand slam. Not a home run. Grand slam." - @JaceFrederick on Jonathan Kuminga
Today's show w/ @JaceFrederick We each made lists of "things that have fueled the Wolves' hot start" - The hunger they're playing with + Not having slow starts to games (5:00) - Jonathan Kuminga as a super role player, Aaron Gordon-type (24:00) - 3-point shooting + 3-point defense (33:00) - The spacing that has come with LaMelo Ball (43:00) - Ant's defensive effort (53:00) - Ayo Dosunmu clicking as 6th man, bridging the Ant-LaMelo stagger (58:00)

Watching Cleveland play for the first time. Not really that big. They stagger Allen and Mobley, so the majority of the game is almost like 1 big, 1 forward and kinda 3 guards. (And the forwards aren’t exactly gigantic — Watson, Hezonja, Tyson, Harden?) I was thinking Cleveland tonight would be a test against size for Minnesota. But I think it’s more so going to be a test of their ability to defend the perimeter. And the first real chance for McDaniels and Kuminga to punish the undersized/weak defenders that will be hiding from Ant and LaMelo.
