I've released v1.27a of 'BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0', the cross-platform programming language for Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android, iOS and in-browser. It features this nice candle animation from David Williams, I hope it may brighten your New Year! bbcbasic.co.uk/bbcsdl/#bbcbasic
This is my adaptation of an animation I found on Twitter (re-tweeted by @jimalkhalili). The original (since deleted) claimed that the dots were all moving at the same linear speed, but it was clearly not true. In my version, coded in BBC BASIC, they really are! #bbcbasic
I've released version 6.14a of 'BBC BASIC for Windows'.
This comes with the Box2D and SHADERLIB libraries (compatible with the BBCSDL versions) supporting physics simulations and shader programming 'out of the box' in BB4W for the first time. bbcbasic.co.uk/bbcwin/bbcwin…#bbcbasic
Shader programming can achieve remarkable things in the hands of an expert. This demo, by Sebastien Durand, is rendered entirely in real-time, using 'BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0' as a framework. If you have a suitable browser you can run it yourself: wasm.bbcbasic.co.uk/bbcsdl.h…#bbcbasic
3D Christmas Bauble animated by 'BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0'. The music, also played by BBC BASIC, is 'Prepare Thyself, Zion' from J.S.Bach's Christmas Oratorio; it was transcribed for Z80 Music by Gerald Pye on 27th September 1981. bbcbasic.co.uk/bbcsdl/#bbcbasic
I've released v1.36a of 'BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0'. The desktop editions (Windows, MacOS, Linux, Raspberry Pi) come with a real-time audio spectrum analyser written in 100% BBC BASIC code, no custom FFT library or assembly language code required! bbcbasic.co.uk/bbcsdl/#bbcbasic
I've put 'BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0' in the iOS App Store. This should be a lot more convenient for users than the previous Ad Hoc distribution mechanism. apps.apple.com/gb/app/bbcbas…#bbcbasic
I managed finally to convert an earlier version of our art program in BBC basic for windows to BBC basic for sdl. This means I can now paint on my ipad. Took a few days and used a.i for button help. This was painted very naturally with my finger just now on the iPad. #bbcbasic
3D animation is easy in 'BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0', although the lighting was tricky here because of all the individual cogs. I ended up with six lights which I think is more than I've used before. You can also run it in your browser at wasm.bbcbasic.net/bbcsdl.htm…#bbcbasic
