2027 is approaching: what kinds of brands or industries will be skyrocketing in AI Search? If you’ve followed my content for a while, you’ll know how bullish I am on the ecommerce segment. My major area of interest has been in product feeds for good reason - it’s the one area that translates best. Whether it be Google’s AI Mode, ChatGPT, or Bing Search - it is the same structured dataset that is preferred. Many ecommerce stores haven’t even uploaded their feeds to ChatGPT or Bing Search using their ads platforms. Better late than never! ChatGPT is testing out a new variation of the labels that can be displayed for organic products in its results. Expanding upon the original version, the new experiment is displaying a green label for the 'best all-rounder' product and also additional grey labels for the "best" for different criteria. 📖 More details & examples of this experiment: brodieclark.com/notes/#oct-2… 📧 To stay updated on SERP changes, subscribe to my monthly newsletter: serpalert.com 🔎 Take a free trial of @serplens: the workspace for SEOs and their agents, today: serplens.com

Wow, I bet the CTR on this new product grid ad unit from Google is going to skyrocket. They've essentially just replaced the organic product grid with a 'sponsored products' title (not disclosed enough IMO) that blends in massively and will confuse users. SMH 👎

“What changed on this page since I last looked?” That’s the question behind our new change tracking feature in SERP Lens. As you browse, SERP Lens records a page’s important SEO attributes so you can see what changed between visits – whether you’re checking your own site or keeping an eye on competitors. Open the Changes tab to: → Follow changes over time in Timeline view → Compare specific visits side by side → Copy previous values, such as an old Open Graph image URL → Keep up to 24 months of history, with adjustable retention Your browsing history stays on your machine. It never leaves your system, and you control what’s retained, cleared or excluded. No need to rely on memory or dig through old screenshots. Just revisit a page and see what’s different. Google is continuing to test favicons appearing in branded sitelinks, now with a format that displays the brand logo and domain for all subpages that show within the full sitelink treatment. A similar format has been spotted recently by @SachuPatel53124, featuring a ‘More from [site name]’ format alongside the brand logo. 📖 More details & examples of this experiment: brodieclark.com/notes/#sep-2… 📧 To stay updated on SERP changes, subscribe to my monthly newsletter: serpalert.com 🔎 Take a free trial of @serplens: the workspace for SEOs and their agents, today: serplens.com

After testing direct links from product grids in traditional search and the Shopping tab, Google is now doing the same for a newer format of product grid results within AI Mode. Normally, clicking on the results would expand the retailer comparison overlay, with the feature now going directly to the retailer’s website.

Some good news for eCommerce SEO: Google is now placing an additional organic link within product grid results. This test follows Google adding ads to product grid results for the first time ever in April, an area of search that often converts at twice the rate of traditional search. As you can see in this experiment, which was first discovered by @SachuPatel53124, the link to the product is repeated for the most relevant result within the grid itself and shows with a blue CTA.

Whoa, this is a big change to free listing result grids on Google, likely also making it more difficult for scrapers. They're now making it so that clicking on product grid free listing results takes you directly to the product page, instead of displaying the product overlay experience with multiple retailers. This means the grids have /goto links by default when using Chrome (this is solved in @serplens), and it is only when clicking the new 'More' label that the overlay appears. Great reason to now be using SERP Lens for eCommerce SERP analysis! This was first highlighted to me by @SachuPatel53124. 📖 More details on this experiment: brodieclark.com/notes/#sep-2… 📧 To stay updated on SERP changes, subscribe to my monthly newsletter: serpalert.com 🔎 Take a free trial of the workspace for SEOs and their agents today: serplens.com

Google is continuing to mix in Shopping ads within AI Mode output, this time including individual sponsored results alongside organic listings. This is an extension of the various AI Mode ad formats that they are experimenting with, with the latest variation being more discreet than previous iterations. Originally covered by @SachuPatel53124 on SEW. Here is a running list of all AI Mode ad types: serplens.com/blog/ai-mode-ad… 📖 More details on this experiment: brodieclark.com/notes/#sep-2… 📧 To stay updated on SERP changes, subscribe to my monthly newsletter: serpalert.com 🔎 Take a free trial of the workspace for SEOs and their agents today: serplens.com

Google is testing out a prominent 'More >' blue label within product grids to highlight when additional retailers are advertising a product. Normally, free listings will display with the '& more' text when multiple retailers stock an item, which is less visible than this experiment. 📖 More details on this experiment: brodieclark.com/notes/#sep-2… 📧 To stay updated on SERP changes, subscribe to my monthly newsletter: serpalert.com 🔎 Take a free trial of the workspace for SEOs and their agents today: serplens.com

This report seems to have rolled out far more broadly as of today. I'm now seeing it for the majority of the accounts I have access to.
Ecommerce SEO News: the AI performance report in Google Merchant Center (Google's only AI report that shows queries) is expanding. I'm now seeing it for a broader set of client accounts, with some new reporting sections and data included that weren't there previously. When I originally shared the first screenshots of the report back in July, it was fairly simple, featuring some top-level insights for the Shopping journey and some generic 'query term' data. The report has now expanded to include sections for the AI performance reporting related to: 1. AI Search intent This reporting section allows you to see how your products match customer AI searches. 2. AI Search terms This reporting section recommends improving your visibility by including popular terms in your product descriptions for products that show up in AI searches. 3. AI Attributes This reporting section recommends increasing your visibility by adding missing attributes to your products that show up in AI searches. Interestingly, there is also a new 'Products showing' column within the search intent and search term reporting that allows you to see the number of products for a verified domain that show up on Google in AI searches. At this time, you're unable to see the products that are referenced within the reporting, only the count of items that align with both of the reporting views. Overall, there are some very encouraging changes happening with this report, and I'm curious to see where the Shopping team is headed with it. Take note, Google Search Console!

SEO News: Google just changed a core part of our daily SEO workflows. /goto links are here and are likely to stay. A great deal of the day-to-day work for SEOs is completed within the logged-out experience (where it is most consistent), so it is ultimately having an impact on workflows. I first discovered the rollout of /goto links in July and even documented a related issue as far back as May, with Google recently confirming that it was intentional and likely here to stay. Most SEO data providers have managed to alter their approaches, and I'm proud to say that @serplens was among the first to integrate a deep solution within our browser (which is a completely unique product in the industry). Watch the video to see the impacts of the change on a standard non-logged-in browsing experience, where it is having an impact on the ability to see URLs on hover (something SEOs are accustomed to doing), and even some Chrome extensions. Now is a great time to take SERP Lens for a test run if you haven't already. We have a free tier and a 14-day free trial that you can use under the 'Pro' plan to experience the full power of our application: serplens.com

Huh? Searching for "chatgpt seo" has a page that ranks attached to /seo-services on their domain. But it doesn't even look to be a custom GPT, it's just a duplication of their homepage. Odd...

GPT-6 Astra combined with @serplens is super powerful for SEO analysis. Have been testing it out today in a closed version of the app and getting some great results – considering making frontier models like this available for users to choose from, though costs would be higher. One of the major benefits of SERP Lens is having the latest AI models at your fingertips for SEO, including models from Google, Xai, Anthropic, and OpenAI. Can take your pick!

Noticing some interesting changes to query fanout in ChatGPT recently. It seems to be naming brands more often in the fanout queries that follow the first in the sequence - showing 5 in total for this example
