The government’s ’Your First Home’ scheme is aimed at helping young folk get a foot on the property ladder. So why is it applicable to leasehold flats? These are NOT legally property. They are confiscatory rentals! Be warned! Stay away! @FreeLeasehlders
Who wants to become a debt slave by taking on a leasehold flat? The government is keen to lure desperate young people in with its “Your First Home” scheme, while developers dangle £40,000 towards private school fees. How to break democracy.

No, @RSHEngland, it just shows that housing associations have learned to game the TSM system.

Very sad to see this. The government could take away much of the pain by delivering its manifesto promise to end leasehold and reforming Right to Manage so that 50% of leaseholders responding positively to a Notice within 8 weeks can secure RTM and slash their service charges.

Spot on, @JamesMelville. Ordinary families are told to boil less water and watch every penny, while William’s helicopters clock up 58,000 miles. One rule for the public, another for the Palace. That’s royal privilege in a nutshell. 👑

Well @andyburnham kept @mtpennycook as Housing Minister which was a clear message to all of us of how he intends to govern.
The property mafia are having their mouths stuffed with gold by this Labour government, while the rest of us cling on by our fingernails.

🔴'@Helen_Whately, Shadow Secretary of State for Work & Pensions, has claimed £2 MILLION in expenses in 10 years. Her boss, @KemiBadenoch, has 3 children, claims £2.7K per month to rent a 6 bed farmhouse and tried to claim expenses for a family holiday. The country can't afford @Conservatives.' - @TyrelWallace
Helen Whatley MP spends every day bashing disabled people online and calling them scroungers. She has claimed for almost £2,000,000 on expenses since 2015. £300,000 of this are for her own travel and accommodation etc, yet she lives 50 miles from London.

Don’t do it!!! Save yourself the hassle of being trapped in a property you think is yours…. But surprise surprise is not!! Save up and buy a real flat!
Nearly half of the shared ownership homes at a major east London development remain unsold after prospective buyers struggled to meet affordability rules. standard.co.uk/news/london/a…

Replying to @emmafildes
And that's on top of govt changing thresholds to sell shared ownership flats to higher earners. Housing associations need new first-time buyers to keep the Ponzi going, and L&G is a for-profit. Nothing to see here.

Shared ownership is rarely if ever “affordable.” Relaxing affordability rules so buyers could proceed “where a detailed affordability assessment demonstrates that spending more than 40 per cent of their income on housing costs would still be CONSIDERED affordable” doesn’t seem particularly responsible when questions remain unanswered about service charges, rent and exit fees…@nick_clarkLDR standard.co.uk/news/london/a…

Increased mortgages, increased service charges, increased taxes. But take your time dear @mtpennycook I’m looking forward to voting your party out of power.
Hey @grok the Bank of England is set to raise its rates this Thursday for the firs time since 2023, how will this impact the working class?

Fascinating that Labour are dismantling signature Conservative homeownership reforms, yet His Majesty’s Opposition remains ghostly silent, refusing to stand up for millions of desperate voters. Loving their property donors more than the people?
.@UKLabour betrays the people for the cartels. It breaks its promise to end the leasehold scam, subsidises super-rich developers via Help to Buy 2 and backs murky Build-to-Rent outfits. This makes even Trump, who says homes are for people, not corporations, sound sensible.
