The 'Beyond Speed: Building Trusted Interoperability in the Future of Cross-Border Payment' report identifies three sources of friction in cross-border finance: 1. Operational differences. Domestic infrastructures have different operating hours, capabilities, and settlement processes. 2. Fragmented data. Inconsistent information and messaging standards complicate screening, reconciliation and reporting. 3. Regulatory differences. Legal classifications and compliance requirements vary across jurisdictions. Improving the payment experience means addressing all three. Systems need to exchange useful information, align operationally, and support trust across borders. That is why interoperability is a foundation for adoption at scale.

Tokenized markets need to know who is acting, with what authority. At @rwasummitglobal Singapore, CTO Herman Stohniiev explored AI in RWA tokenization and the agent economy. Institutional participation requires: • Institutions need to identify the agents they interact with. • An agent’s work must be supported by verifiable evidence. • Greater autonomy requires clear accountability. The path forward is trusted infrastructure that serves national priorities and connects economies globally.

Three takeaways stand out: 1. Shared standards matter. Consistent messaging and high-quality data help payment networks exchange both value and information. 2. Trust needs to travel with the payment. Banking rails, stablecoins, tokenized deposits, and CBDCs need infrastructure to connect them.
