Today, I especially want to recognize the 82nd Separate Air Assault Brigade, which is carrying out missions in the Oleksandrivskyi sector – thank you for your confident assault operations and good combat planning. I thank the warriors of the 128th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade, which is also fighting confidently and destroying the occupying forces in the Zaporizhzhia sector. I thank the 59th Separate Assault Brigade of Unmanned Systems and the 414th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade – thank you, warriors, for your excellent results in destroying the occupiers in the Donetsk region. We thank our assault units in the Pokrovsk sector. I also want to recognize today the warriors of the 1st Separate Unmanned Systems Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the timely and accurate delivery of our long-range sanctions to Russian territory. And I also thank the warriors of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and our intelligence services – the Defense Intelligence and the Foreign Intelligence Service – for their accuracy. Thank you all! From President Zelenskyy’s evening address.
The trend this year continues – since the start of fall, our warriors have liberated more territory than the Russians have managed to capture. The same was true at other points this year. We continue to press the Russians at the front. Dobropillia, Kostiantynivka, Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, Orikhiv, Novopavlivka, Novoandriivka, and Velykomykhailivka are all under Ukrainian control. We are also defending the areas near Kramatorsk and destroying Russian forces 20 kilometers from Zaporizhzhia, not 5, as someone over there in Russia is snowing Putin. Our front is strong, and I thank every warrior and every one of our units that is carrying out its tasks in full.

We see no indication from Russia that it wants to end this war, or pursue any form of truce or peace. That's why we need to help Ukrainians to get through winter and defend their country. Ukrainians need more air defence. And we need to increase pressure on Russia to make it clear that they have to negotiate. My doorstep ahead of today’s European Council meeting ↓

Putin has started his winter operation against our energy system – massively, right now, in October. People are left without electricity because Russian ballistic missiles and drones keep hitting our energy, and water supplies, and energy facilities. I ask you to really focus on helping us get PAC-2 and PAC-3 interceptors. Ukraine can’t get by on just two or four missiles from a country every few months. Of course, we are thankful to all of you, but I think you have to understand. So please let what European countries already have be put to use to protect our lives. We need a winter package – we always spoke about it between us – of missiles – 300 Patriot interceptors specifically against ballistic missiles. And this is really important. Not just for Ukraine, but strategically – for what happens next, after this winter, to Ukraine and to all of Europe. Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s address at the European Council meeting.

Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten calls on European leaders give more support to Ukraine "financially, militarily and nonmilitary." He believes a lot of European countries are "lagging behind in the support for Ukraine." Read our live blog: l.euronews.com/mb5p

Denmark’s PM Mette Frederiksen: If we allow Ukraine to fall, I believe we will have opened the door for the Russians to advance into other parts of Europe. That is why we must continue to regard Ukraine as our line of defense for Europe. If that domino falls, the door will be open to further attacks, I believe.

Yesterday, unfortunately, Kyiv was hit by ballistic missiles, and we received no warning from our partners about this attack. Usually, we do receive such warnings, and they are extremely important – they help us defend ourselves. There were five ballistic missiles, and, in fact, our Armed Forces detected them only seconds before impact. And that is precisely why we tell our partners that their cooperation with Ukraine provides greater protection for life, allows us to save more people, and helps stop Russian killings. Our military and intelligence services must cooperate fully, and on our side, we have everything necessary in place. From President Zelenskyy’s evening address.
Our team has sent the American side proposals for possible next meetings and further talks. We are ready to meet in the coming days, and I sent this proposal to Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. On the Ukrainian side, there is always a constructive approach.

Today, the European Union imposed its largest sanctions package against Russia, targeting around 1,600 individuals and legal entities linked to Russia’s military-industrial complex. Ukraine is grateful to President of the European Council António Costa @eucopresident, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen @vonderleyen, and all EU member states for adopting this sanctions package, as well as to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas @kajakallas, who played an important role in making this step possible. Restrictions have been imposed on Russian enterprises and their executives involved in the production of ballistic missiles, communications equipment, electronics, radio navigation equipment, and specialized machinery, as well as in mechanical engineering and shipbuilding. In total, the sanctions list includes 826 legal entities and 743 individuals. Consistently strengthening sanctions against Russia’s military-industrial complex is an important part of limiting Russia’s ability to continue its aggression against Ukraine. At the same time, it is important to further restrict access to critical components and technologies and strengthen oversight of compliance with sanctions restrictions. Also today, the European Union imposed sanctions on 77 individuals who participated in the illegal “elections” to the Russian State Duma in Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories, as well as members of Russia’s Central Election Commission. Importantly, both decisions were adopted as part of efforts to synchronize sanctions with Ukraine. Our country will continue working to ensure that all our sanctions measures are synchronized across international jurisdictions.

Even though the Russians outnumber us by a factor of six to eight in some areas of the front, we are still achieving the results Ukraine needs. For this, I want to give special recognition to the warriors of the 12th Special Forces Brigade “Azov” of the National Guard of Ukraine, the 1st Presidential Brigade “Bureviy,” as well as our 95th Brigade of the Airborne Assault Forces, the 413th Regiment “Raid” of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the 104th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the “Phoenix” Border Guard Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Thank you and everyone who fights for Ukraine as they would for themselves. From President Zelenskyy’s evening address.
Russian losses have increased in recent months. In the Dobropillia area alone, the Russians are losing around 200 troops killed every day. They also have many badly wounded. We are stopping every enemy attempt to advance or infiltrate. Ukraine's frontline positions remain strong.

Of course, we in Ukraine are maintaining contact with America at all levels. I thank all Americans who have supported Ukraine throughout all these years of war and who want Russia to fail in its attempt to destroy our independence and ruin the lives of other nations as well. Our position has always been as transparent and honest as possible – Ukraine never wanted this war, not even for a single second, let alone five years of full-scale war, and we are ready to take all necessary steps to end it. From President Zelenskyy’s evening address.
Today, there was a statement from the President of the United States that an energy ceasefire has been secured. This is good news for everyone – and it is important that it become reality. Unfortunately, Ukrainian skies have been infested with Russian “shaheds” all day today. There have been glide bomb strikes and strikes on our energy infrastructure too. A power plant in Kharkiv was attacked this evening. Overall, this past week alone, the Russians have carried out more than 200 strikes on our electricity generation and transmission facilities in Ukraine, and another 17 strikes this week targeted gas and oil facilities. They have killed more than 150 of our people, and more than 700 people have been wounded. Ukraine has proposed many de-escalatory steps. Putin had one answer to all of them – “nyet.” We do hope that he will finally say something to America, Ukraine, and the entire world that will lead to a real and dignified peace. Ukraine wants peace. The question is whether Russia does. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have received all the appropriate orders. We are awaiting clear details of the dialogue between America and Russia – and we expect Putin to follow through on what President Trump said.

🇺🇦 My deepest condolences to the families of those killed in the relentless Russian attacks across Ukraine over the past week. My thoughts are also with the many wounded, with those who have lost their homes, and with the Ukrainian people who continue to endure this violence. The devastating attacks in Pryluky, where five children were among those killed, on passenger buses in Kramatorsk and on Ukraine's capital Kyiv are part of a much wider pattern. Residential areas, energy infrastructure and bridges have come under attack. As winter approaches, Russia is targeting the very infrastructure that allows people to work, travel, heat their homes and maintain some sense of normal life. The recent attacks on civilian vessels in the Black Sea are equally alarming, endangering seafarers from countries across the world, freedom of navigation and food supplies in some of the world's most vulnerable regions. At the same time, Russia presents itself to the Global South as a reliable partner for security, sovereignty and food security, and as a champion of the fight against neo-colonialism. Yet it continues to wage a war against an independent nation, with consequences reaching far beyond Europe's borders. Respect for sovereignty and international law cannot depend on geography or political convenience. The principles Russia invokes in its relations with the rest of the world must also apply to Ukraine. Belgium stands firmly with Ukraine and its people. We will continue supporting them and working with our partners to increase pressure on Russia, protect civilians and seek a just and lasting peace. @BelgiumMFA @BelgiumUkraine @andrii_sybiha
