We engaged Zithobeni residents who are affected by the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant water crisis. Together with health workers and peer educators, we’ve reached a large number of communities. Our goal was to raise awareness about the water alert and the presence of the City’s water tankers that are stationed across Region 7 to supply water. We recognise the responsibility we carry as the City to protect our communities, ensure access to safe drinking water and address the failures that led to this. @CityTshwane

💧 Tshwane Mayor Dr @NasiphiM led an oversight visit to the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Works. The City has engaged Rand Water to assist with the rehabilitation and upgrading of the Plant, bringing in additional technical expertise to support the process. Restoring access to clean, safe drinking water to affected communities remains the City’s top priority.

I engaged with our health education teams on the importance of approaching affected residents with patience, compassion and understanding. Many families are understandably worried and frustrated. Our responsibility is not only to provide accurate public health information, but also to listen to their concerns, answer their questions and treat every resident with dignity and respect. How we engage with communities during a crisis matters just as much as the information we provide. We must ensure that no resident feels unheard or left behind. @CityTshwane
