gm serp,
This only impacts a small number of accounts. 95% of managers are unaffected, and most of them have actually had their fees reduced by our Reputation system.
We've always run a managed market. What Rep added ~6 weeks ago is that higher fees now apply to individuals based on their behaviour, rather than raising fees for everyone during disruption.
For context, around 5% of users were responsible for 60% of the selling in recent months, largely at low preferential fee rates (we started everyone at high Rep levels to give them the benefit of the doubt, but after weeks the consequences of their actions are stacking up). The Rep system is designed to stop long drawn out exits at the lowest fee rates. Exits should cost more in a seasonal game.
We aren't Uniswap or a memecoin designed to be dipped in and out of anytime - we're a seasonal sports game played long term with substantial weekly rewards. Managers don't need 2% exit fees to be successful and come out on top.
Our market is a shared pool that exists to support the game. When accounts behave like this, they don't take from the company, they take from other managers.
Excess fees do not go to the company. They go back into the market via our market health bot, which buys player shares back and sends them into the reward pool for long-term players. An average of 2% of fees goes to the company to fund ops and marketing.
I've reviewed every account affected and I'm comfortable it's the right call. We expected some pushback. I've written about this in more detail here:
