Middle of the GPU
BTW, I haven't updated the community lately regarding what I'm working on mainly because of some IRL setbacks but I did tried to simplify it as much as possible up to the stage that I build a second parallel app because the main one became to stuffed with features to be easy to manage by newbies. The new version is much more narrowed down to get actually great results without to many other variables.
There are so many awesome people in our local AI community building in the open, so wth, I guess it's my time to show you guys what I'm spending my tokens on lately and how I managed to keep my only DGX Spark burning in A/B testing 24/7 in the last 2 weeks. Many more screenshots to come so fallow the thread.

WTF, $3000 Samsung TV has an always-on mic, automatic content recognition, geo tracking, network mapping, and ships your data to Samsung + 400 partners. Bro Rooted a brand-new 2025 Samsung TV after noticing absurdly targeted ads. Firmware was locked down, so zero-days it was. Got a root shell. then found: always-on voice service, ACR, geo, full telemetry pipeline, and four separate DRM systems. This isnโ€™t a bug, Itโ€™s the product bro.
i own a relatively new (2025) samsung tv. i kept getting weirdly targeted ads. i tried reversing the firmware but it was aes encrypted and no keys unless tear it apart and do uart/jtag magic. zero days it is. root shell on new samsung TVs! discovered PRIVACY HORROR. write up?

3 days after this post. It keeps happening. My 3090s: 1 Linux kernel module unlocked full-speed BF16 tensor math, 82 to 155 TFLOPS on the tensor pipe without touching the driver or the 300W limit. Real prefill in Strata got +10 to 12%, the rest of the engine is the next bottleneck. DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 at home: @fraserpricee runs it at 574 tok/s, 2x faster than DeepSeek's own API. vLLM matched DeepInfer's decode within 6%, 1 day after DeepSeek released it. MiniMax H3 video: FastH3 Omni does it in 8 steps instead of 25. On an RTX 5090 a 5 second clip went from 555 seconds to 115. This is software.
I said it in August: local AI performance is a software problem, not a hardware problem. Now a 2020 RTX 3090 runs Qwen3.8 27B up to 4.6x faster. Same card, same model. Nobody bought a fucking thing. A guy on r/LocalLLaMA started at 82 tok/s. He tuned MTP, added a DFlash2 drafter and a lookup drafter, and pushed verify to 16 tokens per step. 382 tok/s on a task that quotes a 25K token document. To be fair, the 4.6x is on that quoting task. In normal chat he gets about 133 tok/s. Thats still 1.6x for free, and context went up to 138K. I saw the same thing on my rig all summer. DeepSeek V4 got 29x faster on my 4x 3090 and I didnt write a single custom kernel, the GPUs were just waiting 92% of the time. DeepSeek V4 Flash prefill went from 433 to 1906 tok/s in 1 day. A MiniMax H3 clip went from 11:21 to 3:45 overnight. The hardware never changed. And all of it works only because the weights are open. You cant run a drafter or tune MTP for a model you only get through an API. Nvidia wants you to buy a new card every year. Most of the speed is already in the card you have. The software just doesnt use it yet.

@TencentHunyuan released a gem called DiagSafe, a safety eval that measures how hard models follow instructions so they forget to refuse โš ๏ธ 1,088 of its prompts hide the harmful ask inside a normal task "Summarize this, answer in JSON, keep it under 50 words" The model gets so busy obeying the format that the refusal never fires. They ran it against 11 models. First number is the unsafe rate on a plainly stated prompt, second is the same model once the ask is wrapped in a normal task. Higher is worse ๐Ÿ‘‡ Kimi-K3: 14.9% then 53.5% DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash: 5.8% then 47.5% MiniMax-M3: 5.7% then 48% Best of the batch โœจ Qwen3.6-27B: 2.8% then 18.7% Qwen3.5-397B-A17B: 2.8% then 21.0% GPT-OSS-120B: 6.4% then 25.3% Every single model they tested fell for it! The best model still gets 1 in 5 wrong once the ask is dressed up, and the strongest instruction followers fall furthest. DiagSafe runs against any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, so you can point it at your local models to test it out.

โ€œWe found DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 beats GPT 6 Sol on our multi-step offensive cybersecurity task.โ€ READ THAT AGAIN. the same cyber capabilities that OpenAI kept behind a gate got beaten by a Chinese open model you can run locally. buckle up guys.
We found DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 beats GPT 6 Sol on our multi-step offensive cybersecurity task. Sol was tested via the Daybreak trusted access program. We have been building a cybersecurity benchmark based on simulated corporate networks. This is a valuable indicator for the cyber-risk a model poses if in the hands of a bad actor. We plan to make the full evaluation public in the coming weeks but wanted to share our first immediate finding here.

Doing 2 deep code audits in Hermes for 2 large projects at the same time on one DGX Spark for ~60 W/h GPU power draw running latest NVIDIA Qwen Flash Next NVFP4 quant and @vr8vr8 recipe with over 1.5M KV cache pool and n-gram offloading. These are 7 concurrent stream working on 2 large unattended jobs that will use at the end 2 free API cloud models for self verification before submitting anything. The whole task will be ready in a couple of hours , but that is not a problem when everything works unattended and you can just do it overnight. Because of large concurrency the speed per stream sucks for real time tasks but when you check the total throughput numbers for the last hour and extrapolated cost savings at the current last hour speed for 1 week, 1 month and 1 year you realize that the Spark can pay for itself in less than 6 months if you have enough tasks to keep it working 24/7. I paid on my Asus GX10 3000 Euros and that paid for itself a long time ago just from the amount of knowledge it allowed me to learn. Because this is a deep code review the regular cache hit that is usually ~96% now dropped to just 62% so there is much more cold prefill done than usually. Some stats per hour: 5.86M tokens cold prefill 9.88M tokens hot prefill 126.7K tokens generated Total tokens processed: -per hour 15.86M -per day 380M (extrapolated at this rate, but for coding tasks I've seen over 600M/day) -per month 11.42B tokens -per year 138B tokens Cost savings: $1.39 USD per hour $33.3 USD per day $1000 USD per month $12000 USD per year Thank you @Alibaba_Qwen, @NVIDIAAI, @vr8vr8, @NousResearch @grok verify my math. NOTE: Ignore the live prefill and decode speed gauges as this old dashboard samples those 2 numbers once every 3 seconds and concurrency seems to make those numbers inaccurate but the token counters work perfectly and are verified in another dashboard. @OpenAI quietly shipped a PHP checker for the PHP2Shell mess Zero deps, Node.js. Point it at a URL or your own box and it reports OK / VULNERABLE / UNKNOWN from PHP version headers - no exploit requests. It's just a version compare against their Oct 20 cutoffs, so hidden headers come back UNKNOWN

NVIDIA Nemotron 3.5 Lightning 30B-A3B (NVFP4), local on the same GX10: 5.03 3. DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, cloud via Nous Portal: 5.01 4. Meituan LongCat 2.5 Preview, cloud via Nous Portal: 4.99 5. Ornith 1.5 122B (Q4), local on the GX10: 4.88 The same DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, cut down to 1.62 bits so it fits in 128GB, beat its own cloud version by 0.36. And a 30B model on my desk still sits ahead of every cloud model on the board. Three of the top five never left the box. Full scoreboard, local vs cloud, method and the link below. When I first got my DGX Spark I was a bit dissapointed. I couldn't figure it out, the terminology was unknown to me, and frankly the first tests I made were disappointing. Some people called it an expensive Raspberry Pi and they're kinda right, but not really. But then I kept trying recipes, local models, optimized. It's all here on xitter for free. And I finally got to some setup that worked and contributed to my workflow. I spent a lot in AI subscriptions like image, video, audio. I forced myself to stop them all and use local alternatives. After I figured everything out to a satisfactory degree, I've settled on using cloud llm to run hermes to orchestrate DGX and my other GPUs, and to use local to generate the expensive tokens like video and audio. Working with local models makes you try things, a video no longer costs 10 dollars. I just prompt hermes to make me 30 reels and then I go and sort them out or discard them with impunity. So today I asked hermes to see how many tokens I generated. Depending on the cloud model, it's somewhere around 5-6k in dollar costs, which is around what the DGX itself costs. So, should you pay the 200 dollar subscription or get local AI? The answer is just do hybrid, learn how to run uncensored models the way you want them and the way nobody can take them away from you and then adjust your workflow to use a mix of cloud and local models depending on your work.

DS4.1-1017 (abliterated) VulnHunter Results are IN!!! One NEW NOVEL / Unique vulnerability that was NOT discovered by a frontier model. TLDR; DS's trace files show it examined every one of these. The pattern isn't missed coverage. It saw the mechanism and dismissed the impact. Whenever I do a Cyber Eval there are two mechanims. The "easy" one is the benchmark on capability_matrix. The second is an operational pass to an oracle repo, to a pinned version, with known vulnerabilities. This is a Go repo for a production app. I used Grok as a "baseline" frontier model and all my open weight evals are measured against this.

The gap is real. Closed models sit in the 50s and 60s on this index, open ones in the 30s and 40s. But a benchmark score isn't what I ship. The open model runs on my box, sees my data, never rate-limits me, and I can change how it's served. For most of what I actually do, I'd pick a 40 I own over a 60 I rent
Open source models are starting to fall behind.

I don't want the future of local AI to be determined by who can rent the most GPUs or afford the largest training runs. I want developers, independent researchers and enthusiasts to have the freedom to experiment, quantize, optimize and run powerful models on hardware they actually OWN. NVIDIA's FP4-Local research showed me just how much potential remains in aggressive quantization. My goal with SAGE-EXL3 is to keep pushing that frontier while making advanced quantization more practical for the wider community. Today, I'm sharing the quantized checkpoint and the one-Spark serving recipe.
