Two ways to genuinely keep kids safe on their way to school: Speed cameras, which this government outlawed. Bike lanes, which this government is ripping out.
Every parent wants to know their child is safe on their way to and from school. It's a peace of mind we want for every student, in every community. From kindergarten to high school, student safety is everyone's responsibility. This School Bus Safety Week, I remind all drivers to slow down, stay alert and take extra care around school buses and school zones throughout the school year.

Businesses nestled in residential neighbourhoods are in huge demand all over the city. There are many in my area and they are beloved by residents. Not everyone is scared of things!

Resorting to AI (check out the "letters" on the street signs). But having restaurants and shops nearby is actually lovely. The 1950s semi-detached home I grew up in was near shops as is the 1930s walk-up I live in now. This is not a new or scary idea. It's called a neighbourhood.

The keys to solving traffic congestion are appropriate land-use policies, road pricing, and investment in non-car forms of urban mobility. Pretending otherwise is just fooling ourselves. To solve congestion, Toronto needs to reduce automobile dependency. brandondonnelly.com/torontos…

Nary a bike lane in sight. Makes you think!
Toronto is a hot mess. What should have been a 10 minute commute is now 43 mins and counting. #TOpoli

In Toronto, more people are killed and injured by vehicles than from violent crimes. Anyone who claims to be a champion of safety, but who isn't advocating for safer roads, is just fear mongering or dog whistling.

Bike Share Toronto has recorded more than *seven million* rides so far this year.
Not only has Bike Share ridership continued to grow 11% year-over-year, it has quietly become *profitable* for the first time. That's right, when the province removes safe bike routes, they are also harming a *revenue-source* for the city.

Call me crazy, but it seems a reasonable thing to do would be to ensure as many of those seven million trips as possible occur in protected bike lanes.

This is what kills me about the 'cycle on side streets' on Yonge crowd. The laziness of the argument.
Is it too much to ask for publishers of articles advocating for cycling routes on secondary roads in Toronto to require their authors to submit a proposed alternative? @RDiManno, is this the sort of secondary route you're thinking as an alternative to the Yonge Street lanes?

Here’s an excellent example of how the mainstream media irresponsibly helps stoke populist fear and division; 2/3 of people feel completely safe, but they choose to frame it in this way.
#NEW: More than a third of Torontonians don't feel safe in their own neighbourhood after dark, exclusive poll shows. toronto.citynews.ca/2026/10/…

The transportation minister ripping out the Toronto bike lanes lives in Brampton.
None of these people used this bike lane for the years it held up traffic: while being almost entirely empty. Seriously - ask them where they’re from. It’s likely not Etobicoke.

Provincial Minister from Brampton, who ignored 19,000 comments received during consultation as well as internal advice against bike lane removals, ‘has a clear mandate’ to remove local bike lanes on city streets in a municipality where his government lost 15 of 25 ridings.
Work to restore vehicle lanes on Bloor Street West was scheduled to begin tonight but was halted by protesters. Make no mistake: these bike lanes are coming out. We have a clear mandate and we will deliver.
