Mondays, amirite?
Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) was 45 mins late to preside over today’s pro forma session of the Senate. Lee has railed against the Senate’s pro forma sessions (set up during recesses) in recent months, arguing they’re preventing the passage of the SAVE America Act. Lee vowed earlier this year to block the pro forma schedule for a scheduled recess, but didn’t follow through.

New: Jim Jordan is not a member of House leadership, but he’s sure been acting like it In the weeks leading up to Tuesday he’s visited dozens of districts including a 19 day-straight stint to Election Day. Sometimes that’s bc Rs call him, other times he reaches out to ask if they need a hand And in between campaign stops, Jordan says he’s calling/texting Rs to check in on how their individual races are going “Sometimes they’re fundraisers, sometimes they’re rallies, sometimes they're both,” he told me in an interview. "We're doing everything we can just to help our team win.” It’s a far cry from the HFC bombthrower he once was. One House Republican told me of the way he is now, “Jim doesn't care if you're moderate or even if you have to lean left to keep your seat, you have to represent your people.” It’s spurred questions about what he wants out of it — like a possible leadership role people say he’s working toward. But Jordan told me: “I’m focused on…Tuesday.” Inside his midterm sprint for @FoxNews: foxnews.com/politics/inside-…

This is much more pointed than the statement Schumer put out earlier. “This is a despicable betrayal from Rep. Stevens.”
This is a despicable betrayal from Rep. Stevens. Senate Democrats are united in our support for Abdul El-Sayed, because we know he will fight for the economic interests of working families in Michigan, unlike Mike Rogers, who is a tool of Donald Trump and billionaire donors.

Schumer out with statement of “unwavering support” for El-Sayed following Stevens’ turn. No mention of the congresswoman, but a big push back on “racist, Islamophobic and over-the-top false attacks” in El-Sayed from the GOP.

What I wonder is A) will the average Michigan voter care what Stevens thinks, B) what’s she got to gain politically from this by turning her back on the Dem nominee?
HAPPENING NOW: Congresswoman Haley Stevens joins Mike Rogers at church in Detroit this morning. We have a state to save, Michigan.

Ted Cruz on his podcast today: "Texas is excruciatingly close. Understand, we could lose Texas. Let me repeat that: we could lose Texas. And by the way, not just the Senate race. We could lose every single statewide race in Texas. That's how close these numbers are." #TXSEN

Thune told me that Dems' crop of candidates, particularly the ones to Schumer's left flank could "hurt them in this election in what otherwise might be arguably a decent political environment for them."

Trump has had to make two trip to SC, once to beat Norman just before the run-off, and again last week as the race against Andrews becomes closer than Republicans would look. w/@liz_elkind
Ralph Norman tells me he has NO plans to campaign for Darline Graham in the final week before Election Day He also criticized Trump, telling me the president spent "millions of dollars spreading false narratives about why Darline Graham is qualified to be elected to the U.S. Senate" Graham is running a closer-than-expected race against Democrat Annie Andrews More on the deepening GOP fracture in South Carolina with @AlexMillerFox1 for @FoxNews: foxnews.com/politics/trump-a…

Dems are making a last-minute play in Mississippi, sending money and big names to boost Scott Colom against Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith. The GOP is scoffing at the effort, but sending money and reinforcements, too. "It could be enough," Colom told me. foxnews.com/politics/schumer…

Spoke with Scott Colom, the Dem nominee in MS, about his campaign getting a last- minute boost from national Dems. He isn't outright backing Schumer to continue leading: "I don't like that our party is represented by two people that live in the same borough," he told me.
