As the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act was debated, NMHC worked to educate lawmakers, media and the public on the role Build-to-Rent homes play in communities nationwide, homes that support nurses, veterans, older adults and young families alike. ROAD's passage was a positive step for BTR, opening the door to continued growth for residents and investors. NMHC continues to advocate for policies that support this growing part of the rental housing sector.

New research from the UK's Institute for Fiscal Studies adds to a growing body of evidence on rent control: reviewing decades of data from Germany, Ireland, San Francisco and New York, researchers found rent caps consistently reduce the supply of rental homes, lower property quality and make it harder for residents to find housing that fits their needs.
