CEO @GauntletAI: Free AI training + high-paying jobs for the smartest engineers. Will tweet as I wish and suffer the consequences. Accelerando: @kellyclaudeai
A hack at the root of all PHP versions is brutal.
The website someone put up 15 years ago on a cheap host that no one remembers how to log into is now the direct target.
Full details of a remotely exploitable vulnerability in the core engine of *all* PHP versions will be released tomorrow, October 21st. If your organization has internet facing PHP applications then you need to be ready to patch the minute the update is released or *strongly* consider taking the application offline until you can:

Conversation I just had:
"I have an enterprise C++ codebase that was deprecated in the mid 2000s, I'm trying to determine what it's worth."
"Wow, how many pull requests are in the codebase?"
"...Zero, Git didn't exist yet."
Oh yeah
$SPCX Q3 updates:
Revenue: $14.6B (up 161% YOY)
Net income: $4.4B (up $5.1B from net loss of $1.1B last year)
Adjusted EBITDA: $8.8B (up 306% YOY)
Sheeeeeesh

The hot topic on HackerNews over the past few days with regard to AI is whether or not you need to actually understand the code that's shipping to production.
And there is enthusiastic discussion both ways.
On HackerNews.
If your interview still tests writing code from memory, you’re grading the part AI already does.
Oracle’s Kay Malcolm goes live with Gauntlet COO Brett Johnson this Wednesday, Oct 21, at 12 PM CT / 1 PM ET, on how to spot AI-first developers before you hire.
When your FDE leaves, everything they learned about your business goes with them.
Stop by Gauntlet HQ during #AustinTechWeek for a conversation between Aater Suleman of Vixul and @Austen on who should own that knowledge, and how to lock it in before the engagement starts.

What changed in the last 24h of AI for builders:
• Harness engineering became a discipline
• DeepSeek open-sourced its inference engine; DHS banned it
• Backdoored local models stealing .env for <$50
• HN's fight over shipping code you don't get

We talk about what it’s like to go through the Gauntlet; spending 80-100 hrs/week just grinding on the cutting edge of AI.
We should talk more about what it’s like to have this so many back-to-back high-paying job interviews in a day.
8-year-old: “OK dad, you know how you said you’d help me build a treehouse? I’ve been designing it with AI all day and I think I’m ready to build.”
Me: “Oh really? Ask it what it estimates the cost of materials will be.”
8-year-old: “169,000.”
