Earlier today, I called on H.E @JDMahama , President of the Republic of Ghana, ahead of my assumption of duty as the 7th Secretary-General of the Commonwealth on 1st April. Grateful for his support for my candidature, and I look forward to strengthened collaboration between Ghana and the Commonwealth in the coming years.

I commend India’s Ministry of External Affairs @MEAIndia and High Commissioner @VDoraiswami for arranging insightful briefings by partners on SMART Government, digital public infrastructure, AI, disaster resilience infrastructure, and the Solar Alliance. during my visit to India. My thoughts and prayers are with the Government and people of Vanuatu, following news on Tuesday of a 7.8 magnitude earthquake with serious damage to buildings and unconfirmed reports of deaths. It reminds us of the worsening impact of climate change and the need for action.

I was pleased to witness the astounding display of the rich culture and tradition of the Asante Kingdom at the Durbar held at Manhyia to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the return King Prempeh I from exile in Seychelles.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been touched by the number of persons who have reached out to me to extend congratulatory wishes following my election as Secretary General of the Commonwealth. Yesterday I was pleased to welcome members of the old students association of Akosombo International School. A school, which I spent 5 years and played a vital role in shaping me for the world. I’m grateful for the best wishes and the assurance of continued prayers and support as I get ready to take up this new role.

H.E. Bijan Gerami Nazoksara, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Ghana, called on me to also bid me farewell upon completion of his duty tour in Ghana. The cordial bilateral relations that exist between our two countries have been characterized by cooperation in the fields of Education and Health, which contribute to Government’s socio-economic development agenda. I expressed gratitude to the Ambassador for his commitment and efforts towards strengthening the relations between our two countries, and wished him well on his next assignment.

Earlier in the week, H.E. Mr. Hisanobu Mochizuki, Ambassador of Japan to Ghana, was in my office to bid me farewell upon the completion of his duty tour in Ghana. The tenure of Ambassador Mochizuk has been characterized with impactful projects which has made a tangible difference in the relations between Ghana and Japan. I therefore expressed our gratitude to him and wished him well in his future endeavors.
