You don't #program SpikerBot. You give it a #brain. Drag and drop #neurons, wire them together, and watch what it does. No #code. No #PhD. Just #neuroscience in your hands.

My colleagues in Ann Arbor who work in DIY neuroscience have a new product drop today.
It is small educational robot that you program by building your own simple neural nets by hand.
If you want to learn more about real neuroscience and robotics this is your best bet!
SpikerBot is LIVE on Kickstarter! 🧠🤖

Don't code your next robot. Build its brain instead. 🧠
The #SpikerBot uses a real-time Spiking Neural Network so you can drag, drop, and wire up neurons to control its behavior. Pure computational neuroscience in the palm of your hand! 🧬

Have you ever wanted to shoot webs like Spider-Man using just the electrical signals from your own muscles? Our very own Alex Hatch did exactly that using a Spiker:bit and micro:bit, and he's going to be showing it off live!
Join Make: Editors live on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, for Make: Live: Volume 96 Show & Tell, where we’ll talk with the featured authors as they share their projects and the inspiration, experimentation, and elbow grease behind them. Register here: meet.zoho.com/dmob-kuq-kig

🤩 “My goal wasn’t best functioning but low cost, for people who can’t pay more than 200-300 Euros to be able to do simple things like grabbing a cup of coffee or a paper, a ball and the like.”

You're looking at a functioning myoelectric robotic prosthetic hand custom-built for a person born without left-hand fingers! The engineer: student Jorge Iglesias Costas from Barcelona, who made it using our EMG sensor from Human Spikerbox. Blog post coming soon!

Kids can do amazing things as scientists, if we only give them a nudge! Throwback to our report on an incredibly brave teen scientist from Tucson AZ and her research of stress tolerance in first responders. Kudos to her mentors too!
