DIVISION TWO//ROUND UP
A look back at tonight’s only Division Two game.
Here we go! 👇
@BillinghamTown v
@StokesleySCFC
📊RESULT// Billingham Town 6-3 Stokesley SC
The league leading hosts took the lead after seven minutes when Tai Saunders headed home for his sixth league goals of the season.
But the visitors replied immediately as Connor Smith netted his first goal for Stowsla, after joining from Redcar Town, to make it 1-1.
The goals continued to flow as Joe Aungiers slotted home after rounding Stokesley stopper Tom Beeforth on nine minutes.
George Wilkinson then gave the hosts a little breathing room when he headed home from a corner to make it 3-1 eleven minutes into the breathless start to the game.
The now expectant 274 strong Carters Stadium crowd - their best of the season - then had to wait over quarter of an hour for the next goal, Aungiers crashing home his second of the evening from range for 4-1.
The visitors then saw a Jayden Jones shot rattle the crossbar but it was the hosts who added to the scoreline next as Saunders claimed his second of the evening, and No.7 of the season, to make it five in 34 minutes.
It was six on the stroke of halftime as Aungiers drilled home from the edge of the box on 45 minutes to complete his hat trick.
Town 6-1 ahead at the break.
Stokesley pulled a goal back four minutes after the restart as Charlie Rowe scored for the second game running to make it 6-2.
Liam Williams then grabbed a third for the visitors as he turned it in after a spot of penalty box pinball following a 70th minute corner.
It ended 6-3. A third Division Two game this season that has had nine goals - and the second involving Stokesley after their own 6-3 win away at Durham United back in early August.
Billy Town returned to winning league ways in style to maintain their 100% home league record. It’s now 7/7 at Bedford Terrace as they extended their lead at the top of Division Two to six points. They have now scored six twice in league action.
Stokesley remained in 18th place - four points adrift of Grangetown Boys Club in 17th - as they fell to a 10th away league defeat of their seemingly permanent away tour of Division Two. That was the most goals conceded in a league game - the six goals besting the five against away at Alnwick back in August.
🔮PREDICTION// We predicted a 2-0 home win and that was out the window after nine minutes. Still, called victory for the hosts, hardly ground-breaking but correct all the same.
