Six major Canadian banks -
@BMO ,
@cibc , National Bank of Canada,
@RBC ,
@scotiabank , and
@TD_Canada - announced earlier today that they're exploring tokenized deposit solutions.
It's great to finally see Canada's banks taking initiative in the digital asset space, as it's been long overdue. Bringing bank deposits on-chain creates a foundational settlement layer for Canadian capital markets. Building programmable payment infrastructure on top of it will unlock the next generation of financial products and experiences that consumers will increasingly expect, whether those consumers are humans or AI agents.
At
@balance_canada, this is exactly the kind of infrastructure we've been building to support. As Canada's oldest and largest digital asset custodian, we already work with banks and credit unions in Canada and internationally to execute on their digital asset modernization roadmaps. In particular, as part of the
@cosmos Partner Network, we provide a tokenization platform that integrates directly with core banking ledgers, automatically mints, burns, and reconciles tokenized deposits, and enables interoperability across most blockchain networks with just a few clicks.
Modernizing Canada's banking infrastructure strengthens our domestic capital markets and reinforces our position within the global digital asset ecosystem. We're excited to see this momentum building across the industry and are ready to work with financial institutions looking to bring their own tokenization strategies to market.
