Here in Utah, the mountains are often our unofficial air quality report. But a clear view of them doesn’t always mean clear air. Postdoctoral fellow Joshua Landvatter, PhD, and his research team at @uofuhealth are studying how better air quality information can help people decide when and where to get outside. There’s real value in making environmental information easier to use and taking the guesswork out of enjoying Utah’s outdoors. Read more on #GoodNotes: uofuhealth.utah.edu/notes/20…

Medical school moves fast as students focus on learning and preparing for what’s next. In this #GoodNotes blog, Dr. Gretchen Case shares how @uofuhealth’s Center for Health Ethics, Arts, and Humanities creates space for students to slow down and reflect on the kind of physician they want to become. Sach Apte, MD, MS, MBA, is taking on two expanded leadership roles across @huntsmancancer and @UofUHealth: chief operating officer for Huntsman Cancer Clinical Campuses and chief medical officer for the Cancer Care Line. As we serve more patients across multiple campuses, their experience should feel connected no matter where they enter our system. The Cancer Care Line will help bring teams together around that goal. I’m grateful to Dr. Apte for taking on these additional responsibilities and helping shape what comes next.

Technology is most useful when it makes care easier, safer, and more effective for the people who rely on us. Proud to see @UofUHealth earn Level 10 status—the highest level—in @CIOCHIME’s 2026 Digital Health Most Wired program for acute and ambulatory care. This reflects years of thoughtful work across our system to make better use of technology while keeping security and patient needs front of mind. Congratulations to Donna Roach, MS, and all the teams behind this recognition! healthcare.utah.edu/press-re…

After 15 years of leadership at @UofUHealth and @UUtah, Catherine Soehner, MLS, BSN, is concluding her tenure as associate dean and executive director of the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library. @EHSLibrary Catherine’s 38-year career as a librarian has revolved around helping people access the information they need. Her impact extends well beyond our campus, including helping make full-text PubMed research freely available to physicians across Utah. In January, Christy Jarvis, MLS, will serve as interim associate dean and executive director, with Heidi Greenberg as interim deputy director. Thank you, Catherine, for your many years of service, and thank you to Christy and Heidi for stepping into these roles while we conduct a search for the library’s next leader.

A big milestone this week in West Valley: the final beam for the future on @UofUHealth’s first off-campus hospital and health campus was raised! Before the last beam was put in place, West Valley community members joined U of U Health and @UUtah teams in signing it. Their names are now forever part of a building they’ve helped shape from the beginning. We still have work ahead before the building opens, but it was exciting to see how far we’ve come. Grateful to the Eccles family, George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation, @uofupresident Taylor Randall, Dr. Michael Good, community partners, U of U Board of Trustees, and numerous U of U Health leaders and teams who helped us reach this point.
