10 months ago I contacted local railroad company Skånetrafiken about their practice of storing GPS coordinates and timestamps of ticket validations. According to GDPR storing such personal data is only allowed as long as it serves a legitimate purpose. Now, finally, an answer:
My commute Malmö-Copenhagen is by train. I am grateful to live in a place where public transit actually works well. Ticket validation is done by scanning a QR code in an app on my phone - convenient, but what data is collected? Being interested in #privacy, I decided to find out!

We spent quite a while PLANning, but now the preprint is finally out
Last year, @BoelNelson, @martin_aumuller, @CJLebeda and I started working on the problem in the setting where we have a bound on the variance in each dimension and we seek to minimize the estimation error in Lp norm. Now the paper is finally on arXiv: arxiv.org/abs/2306.08745
