On a recent visit to El Paso, I had the pleasure of swearing in my law clerk Rodrigo Estrada as a Texas lawyer and meeting his family and friends. I also appreciated the El Paso Bar Association’s invitation to share a luncheon update on our work at the Texas Supreme Court. Thanks for the warm welcome!

Every Texan deserves a fair day in court. A judge’s duty is to treat all parties with respect, consider their arguments carefully, and rule impartially based on the law—without regard to politics, pressure, or personal preference. That's the record I’ve built in hundreds of cases over my 14 years as a judge, and it’s the legacy I want to leave for my family and yours. I’d be honored to have your vote to continue my service.

Judicial races are an important part of the ballot. Taking time to learn about the candidates—their experience, records, and approach to the law—helps Texans make informed choices about who will serve on their courts. If you haven’t voted, early voting continues through Friday, and I’d be honored to have your vote. Learn more about my background and campaign at BrettBusby.com.

I enjoyed returning to Houston last week to swear in the new associates at Bracewell and join lawyers and judges from across Southeast Texas at the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston’s annual Red Mass.

Behind each case is a person, a family, or a business depending on our courts to get it right. That's why I believe judges should approach every case with humility, study the arguments carefully, and decide impartially based on the law and the facts. It is the honor of my career to serve the people of Texas. I’m asking for your vote to help me continue the work of delivering impartial justice every day.

As the cost of hiring a lawyer grows increasingly out of reach, I’m taking action to increase the supply of reliable legal help at prices Texans can afford. Under proposed new rules, skilled paraprofessionals who pass an exam can become certified to help Texans with basic civil legal problems. These rules require training, testing, and supervision to ensure high standards of quality and ethics. By leading efforts to reform the regulation of legal services, I’m helping more Texans access the advice they need.

Thank you to my friend Leo Vasquez @LV_HTX for his thoughtful endorsement of my re-election to the Supreme Court, Place 8! Early voting continues this weekend, and I’d be honored to have your vote to continue serving Texas. Please consider asking your family and friends to join you in supporting me. Texans understand the importance of electing experienced, impartial, and hardworking judges, but many don’t know where to get good information about the candidates.

The @HoustonChron Editorial Board highlighted my commitment to judicial independence: “‘I am not on a team,’ he told us. That’s what you want to hear from a judge.” I’m proud to be included among its “best candidates on the 2026 Texas election ballot.” Early voting continues through Friday, October 30, and I’d be honored to earn your vote! houstonchronicle.com/opinion…

The role of a judge is to apply the law faithfully, not to make it. I’ve built my judicial career on giving all parties a fair hearing, considering their arguments carefully, and ruling impartially based on the law—without regard to politics, pressure, or personal preference. That's a commitment Texans can continue to count on.

Justice is about more than deciding cases. It's also about making our legal system more accessible to the people it serves. I’ve worked with judges, lawyers, and community leaders across Texas to make legal help more affordable and available and to make our courts more accessible and efficient. It's part of my broader commitment to making our justice system work better for every Texan. Learn more at BrettBusby.com.

Much of my legal career and judicial service has been rooted in Houston. I have great respect for the officers who take on difficult responsibilities in service to the city each day. I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the @HPOUTX and appreciate its support for my re-election to the Supreme Court of Texas.

“We recommend Busby in large part because he goes beyond lip service to expanding access to people who can’t afford lawyers.” Expanding access to justice has been a central part of my work on the Supreme Court of Texas. I’m proud to have once again earned the endorsement of the @HoustonChron Editorial Board for my re-election to Place 8. Read the full endorsement: houstonchronicle.com/opinion…

Public service doesn't end when the courtroom empties. I believe in doing more to give back to my fellow Texans. As a lawyer, I provided hundreds of hours of free legal aid. As a judge, I lead statewide efforts to help more Texans receive the legal assistance they need. That commitment to service has guided me throughout my 28-year career as a lawyer and judge.
