While I certainly have some very big critiques of Mayor Lurie I just saw him stop, hop out of his ride, and check on someone to make sure they were breathing and hadn’t OD’d. There weren’t any cameras around and he seemed genuinely concerned. Gotta give him props for that.

If I were to put out a “cheap eats” guide, what would you consider cheap?

I can’t believe I’m typing this, but I think I injured myself playing Dungeons & Dragons last night.

After sitting on a stool for 3 hours I woke up this morning and my lower back is completely fucked. Why is getting old so stupid?

In honor of Columbus Day I'm sailing to Berkeley, claiming it for San Francisco, and giving everyone syphilis.

The Blue Angels are the LOUDEST metaphor for the fact that the US spends WAY too much on the military instead of important things like education and health care.

One time a guy walking down Market Street screaming to himself passed me and said, in a totally normal voice, “What’s up Broke-Ass Stuart!” Then he continued on yelling random shit into the ether like nothing ever happened.

Los Angeles is about to spend almost half a billion dollars on affordable housing, and the money will come from a tax on very-high-end real estate sales—precisely what Mayor Daniel Lurie is opposing in San Francisco. 48hills.org/2026/09/la-is-ta…

So the BAS Dinner Club has been absolutely fantastic so far. Over 4 events, we’ve brought nearly 250 people out to 40+ local restaurants and had so much fun doing it. Plus there’s always a fun afterparty once the dinning is done.

The filthiest thing I've ever seen at Folsom Street Fair is someone walking around Folsom Street with their shoes off.

Wild ass thing I learned today: In the 90s Yippie co-founder Jerry Rubin got really into multilevel marketing and Bobby Seale was one of his salesmen!

The AI companies have always known how dangerous the tech is. When most of us were learning about the existence of ChatGPT in 2023, a friend who had worked at Open AI for a number of years told me: "At work we always talk about how there's a 90% chance AI will kill us all"

Top execs at Y Combinator are spreading hundreds of thousands of dollars to support candidates around the country, including a lot of Republicans. I dug into the tech connections underlying the $$. Gift link: sf.gazetteer.co/y-combinator…

Wait...The SF Standard is only being sued for $35,000? If I was suing a billionaire’s business it would be for enough to retire. Isn't that the new America dream?

There’s a line around the block at La Taqueria, as if there wasn’t like 8 other excellent Mexican spots within 3 blocks of there. It’s wild how much people in the Bay love to wait in line.

If you’re an insanely rich person and you want to do something cool, you should buy the SF Examiner/ SF Weekly and let me and my crew of journalist hooligans run it. How cool with it be to have wild ass gonzo shit in print daily/weekly?
