We use mathematics & microscopy to study dynamic processes in biology. Dr Douglas Brumley: Senior Lecturer @unimelb, Postdocs @MIT@ETH_en, PhD @Cambridge_Uni.
Congratulations to Nitay, whose work on viscoplastic flows has just been published in @JFluidMech. This paper, in collaboration with Ed Hinton, examines free-surface flows of viscoplastic material, both theoretically and experimentally @SciMelb @UniMelbcambridge.org/core/journals/…
Congratulations to Filippo and Arash for leading this work, “Machine learning driven image segmentation and shape clustering of algal microscopic images obtained from various water types”. @MonashUni@UniMelb @SciMelb

Thanks to everyone who participated in the 7th Microscale Ocean Biophysics meeting on @HIRS_UQ and those who supported the conference and workshops. @HeronIsle on the Great Barrier Reef an inspiring location to discuss microscale marine processes. @SciMelb @uts_c3@MooreFound
Our preprint, led by Dr. Pranali Deore, uses fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) and FISH to visualise intracellular bacteria in Symbiodiniaceae.

Excited to see our latest work published in @JFluidMech, as part of the special volume celebrating the Batchelor centenary. We compute the effective shear viscosity and normal stress differences in a concentrated suspension of swimming microorganisms.
