I find AI task estimating fascinating. Its like the training is for people hours and not incorporating AI doing the work. I asked about a change today and it said 3 days to finish. And I agree it would have taken 3 days if I was doing the work with no AI assistance. I asked the LLM to do the work and 45 minutes later we were in a good place to be re-reviewed.

I strange/weird use case I like about AI is I can tell chat gpt a book series I am reading and where I am at. Then have a spoiler free conversation about it to t ry and figure some of the stuff happening that makes no sense.

Seen a couple posts today about that AI could kill humans in the next 5 years. My question is how? Like literally what is the mechanism and strategy for AI to kill is in the physical world?

I have a bunch of old programming books some 20 years old. What are people doing with old ones they don't want anymore?

Talk about anti/dark pattern of SaaS YouTube is a prime example. Every year my YouTube premium runs out and I am surprised because I start getting ads. Then I go to renew and I have to google how to get the annual because it is hidden. They work hard to get me on that monthly.

You know with all of the flock cameras around and more going up. They can analyze a lot of data via that AI. I am curious if they are going to try and setup a PreCrime division.

I know I was layed off a couple of weeks ago but I decided to treat my wife to some Italian food at an exclusive place. It was great and quite affordable. I recommend the pizza at @SamsClub

I had claude evaluate logging quality in a part of my teams code. Something I wrote it called the "Gold Standard" then gave me a 9/10 🤣 I need to refine how it measures quality to better understand the difference between the two.

I have noticed problems tend to scale with ability. As I get more experience my problems do to 🤣

Are there any syrup farms that sell maple syrup direct to the public that ship that are family operations?

An underutilized feature of *nix based systems that people don't use is /tmp I wish more people had /tmp in their brain when writing software or doing tasks. A lot of times you just need a file or thing for a few minutes and. Use /tmp and when you forget about it you don't have tons of random tmp files and directories.

Instead of asking for something specific from someone, when you aren't sure yourself, tell them what you are trying to accomplish so they can help you solve the actual problem. Too many times people think they know what they want, but actually don't so time is wasted.

So yeah I just used chat gpt to help me find a movie to watch while I do some work paper work. Much better than browsing. I just told it to ask question and provide options until something struck.

A little fun tractor history, because I can. If I had to put together a list of 5 tractors to show of significant events in history of tractors that I can actually own it would be: 1. Waterloo Boy - The entry into tractors for John Deere, taking a tractor company that was floundering, but good at engines, and making bringing it to the masses, sorta. 2. Ferguson TE-20 - The tractor that changed the game with the pantented 3-point hitch system. 3. Farmall (Regular) - The tractor that changed the game that could do all of the farm chores and set the standard for future tractors to build from. 4. IH 560 - The tractor that broke the trust of IH fans. Great tractor, but they rushed to market with a bad rear end and it was just one more chink in the armor. 5. John Deere 4020 - The right tractor at the right time that propelled JD past IH by providing more power, reliability and powershift. To me these are a small show case of significant timelines

So a weird way to learn Rust better is to changes teams at work and write Scala for 5 months. I had a few minutes, finally, to crack open some rust code and a lot of it makes a lot more sense that used to trip me up. Not a normal path from python to rust lol

I have finally finished my complete restoration of this golf cart. It is the largest project I have done. I took every piece off cleaned and replaced or repaired. I then upgraded everything possible. I learned a crazy amount of stuff that I never thought I would. Running a 48v lithium battery with new AC electric motor for power and efficiency. In then tried my hand at body work, it didn’t go well. That said it is now fully restored and effectively a brand new golf cart. Should last another 30 years. I understand everything on it, and can add a number of accessories as I see fit or fix it. Being electric I can charge it from solar panels so I can create my own fuel. This is going to be a great farm cart to use.

one of the biggest issues with @OpenAI browser based @ChatGPTapp is that if you ask for markdown it will render the markdown instead of giving legit markdown. Or it makes it halfway through the markdown and then renders the rest of the markdown.

YouTube idea that effectively takes advantage of AI, automatable, and will provide tons of value. Localized regional 10 day forecast. Similar to what the local news stations do. Make it less than a minute, hit the basics. I like @ryanhallyall during events so that is covered.
