It’s also why great teachers are great story tellers. It takes fractured pieces of information and weaves it into a way of organizing those heavy chunks.

MLB has done the unimaginable in our day... they have two teams in the World Series that no one can dislike. Just good, old fashioned baseball.

Secondary market sales should be against the law.
The sickening stories keeping coming in…😢😢😢 SHAME ON YOU, @StubHub. Imagine being a kid, a HUGE @Brewers fan, and finding out you’re going to see your team play in the WORLD SERIES! ⚾️💙💛 The excitement. The anticipation. The memories you’re already imagining making. Now imagine having that excitement ripped away because a company sold your 3 tickets that you bought, that they apparently can’t deliver. That’s exactly what we’re dealing with right now. We purchased THREE tickets to the Milwaukee Brewers World Series for Game 1 last Tuesday(13th) through StubHub. We selected our section, our row, paid for our tickets, and received our order confirmation. Everything was supposed to be set. Then suddenly, StubHub tells us they’re “searching for replacement options” because they can’t provide the tickets we purchased. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! How does a company accept someone’s hard earned money, confirm a purchase, and then turn around and say they can’t fulfill it?! And their solution? We can request a refund while they continue looking for tickets. THIS ISN’T ABOUT THE MONEY. It’s about the experience. It’s about the memories. It’s about the excitement of a kid, his dad, and grandpa, who thought they were going to watch their favorite baseball team play on the biggest stage in baseball. Look at the first picture. That’s the disappointment you’re creating, StubHub. A refund doesn’t replace that moment. And here’s what really bothers me… StubHub advertises a “FanProtect Guarantee” and tells customers their orders are “100% guaranteed.” Guaranteed WHAT, exactly?! Because from where we’re sitting, that guarantee doesn’t feel worth much when you can’t deliver the tickets you sold us. We did everything right. We purchased through a major ticket marketplace. We trusted the confirmation. We trusted the guarantee. Now it’s time for StubHub to make it right. We aren’t asking for anything extra. We want the three tickets we paid for, or comparable or better seats together, at no additional cost. Stubhub…DO BETTER. Please SHARE this. Not just for us, but for every fan who has trusted a ticket company with an experience that means so much more than the price of admission. ℹ️Brandon Barker

You are so good at what you do!
Preparation doesn't remove pressure- it just makes it known, and in our mind, known things are survivable in a way unknown things aren’t.  @ButchBaseball29

THE SCOUTING CLASSROOM Stories Behind the Report WHAT DOESN’T BELONG IN THE SCOUTING REPORT Separating What You Know From What You Think You Know. A scouting report can influence a young man’s professional future. Where he’s drafted, what he’s offered, or whether an organization pursues him at all. That’s a tremendous responsibility for someone sitting behind the backstop with a radar gun, stopwatch and notebook. During my 20 years scouting for the Angels and Brewers, I learned that what you leave out of a report can be as important as what you put into it. OBSERVATION VS. INTERPRETATION There’s a difference between what you witnessed and what you believe it means. A player strikes out and slams his helmet. That’s an observation. Calling him immature, selfish or a poor teammate based on that incident is an interpretation. Maybe he’s frustrated with himself. Perhaps it’s part of a pattern worth investigating. One incident doesn’t establish a player’s makeup. A good scout recognizes the behavior and gathers more information before reaching a conclusion. INFORMATION VS. RUMOR Background work is an important responsibility of an Area Scout. You’re talking with coaches, teammates and instructors who’ve watched a player develop. But not every source carries the same credibility. One coach questions a player’s work ethic. Another calls him the hardest worker on the team. Who’s right? How long has each known him? Have they worked directly with him? Are their opinions based on repeated observations or one disagreement? Personal relationships and past conflicts can influence what people tell you. Your job isn’t simply collecting information. It’s determining whether that information is reliable. MAKEUP REQUIRES MORE THAN A CONVERSATION Makeup can separate players with similar physical ability. Competitiveness, preparation, coachability, accountability and handling adversity all matter. But makeup isn’t established through one conversation or a handshake after a game. Watch how a player prepares and responds to failure. Does he adjust? How does he interact with teammates and coaches when things aren’t going well? Compare those observations with credible background information. A makeup evaluation should be built over time, not formed from one impression. WORDS CARRY CONSEQUENCES Scouting reports become part of an organization’s decision-making process. Your words may be read by Crosscheckers, Supervisors, Scouting Directors and front-office personnel who’ve never met the player. They’re depending on you to paint an accurate picture. Describe a player as lacking effort, having poor makeup or being difficult to coach, and those statements can follow him through the evaluation process. That doesn’t mean avoiding legitimate concerns. If there’s a weakness, document it. If there’s a pattern of questionable behavior, investigate it and communicate your findings appropriately. But distinguish firsthand observations from secondhand information. Never present speculation as fact. THE REPORT ISN’T ABOUT YOU A scouting report isn’t a place to settle disagreements, demonstrate how critical you can be or prove you’re the smartest evaluator in the ballpark. It’s an objective assessment of present ability, future projection, strengths, weaknesses and relevant background. Sometimes that means including an uncomfortable truth. Other times, it means leaving out something you cannot substantiate. Both require professional judgment. THE LESSON An Area Scout owes his organization an accurate evaluation and owes the player fairness. Those responsibilities aren’t in conflict. Accuracy serves both. Your job is to evaluate the player, not damage his reputation. If you’re putting something in writing that could affect his future, you’d better be able to support it. #BehindTheRadarGun 🔎

My coworker spent one year in Tennessee. He came back to Tokyo two months ago. He is not the same man. He says "y'all" in meetings. To our boss. He holds the door for the entire floor. Twelve people. Every morning. He asked the convenience store clerk how her day was going. She had to sit down. He calls every man "bud." Including the CEO. He refuses to describe anything under three hours away as "far." He waves at drivers who let him cross. One driver waved back and almost hit a pole. Last week, he told a junior employee, "I'm proud of you." She went to the restroom and cried for ten minutes. We thought it would wear off. It didn't. It's spreading. Three people in accounting now say "y'all." The junior employee holds the door. The convenience store clerk asks HIM how his day is going. Tennessee, I don't know what you did to him. Please do it to the rest of us.

Sounds right. Good rule.
Today, I made a rule that I never fathomed needed to exist in PE: NO ketchup packets allowed in the gym
