Why does inclusive child justice matter? Every child deserves to be heard, understood and protected, whether or not their disability is visible. On 14 October 2026, CREAW Kenya joined child justice stakeholders at the 3rd Annual Child Justice Summit in Mombasa, convened by the Tononoka Children’s Court Users Committee and partners. Held under the theme “Invisible Voices, Digital Realities: Advancing Inclusive Child Justice in Kenya,” the summit highlighted the barriers children with hidden disabilities face in accessing justice and the need for justice systems that recognise and respond to their unique needs. The summit culminated in the adoption of the Mombasa Declaration on Inclusive Child Justice, 2026, through which stakeholders committed to strengthening disability inclusion, improving coordination, building the capacity of justice actors, protecting children in digital spaces, and ensuring child-friendly and accessible justice processes.

Congratulations to Nala Foods from Kwale County and Lake Front Fisheries from Siaya County on their wins at the Africa Commerce & Industry Summit (ACIS) Awards 2026, organized by the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI). The two enterprises were among 11 AECF investees nominated across various categories, recognizing businesses driving innovation, job creation, sustainability and inclusive economic growth. Supported through the Investing in Women in the Blue Economy in Kenya (IIW-BEK) program, implemented in partnership with @AECFAfrica and funded by Global Affairs Canada, these enterprises demonstrate what is possible when women entrepreneurs have access to the financing, markets and opportunities they need to thrive. Their recognition is not just a celebration of business excellence. It reinforces the importance of investing in women-led enterprises as drivers of innovation, sustainable livelihoods and economic transformation in Kenya's blue economy. Congratulations to both enterprises on this well-deserved recognition! Here's to more women building businesses, creating opportunities and shaping the future of the blue economy. #BlueEconomy #WomenInBusiness #WomenEntrepreneurs

As the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) celebrates 60 years, CREAW joined the celebrations to spotlight the experiences and achievements of women entrepreneurs in the blue economy. CREAW's Program Development Manager @CikandaMwadala participated in a panel discussion, sharing perspectives on how women are breaking barriers, building thriving enterprises, creating employment for other women, and expanding investments across borders to drive economic growth. The women entrepreneurs, who are part of the IWWBEK Program, are embracing innovation and new technologies, including establishing hatcheries to address persistent supply challenges in local markets. Their businesses also promote inclusion by working alongside men, creating opportunities for persons with disabilities, supporting childcare services, and advancing environmental conservation and complementary economic activities. #BlueEconomy #WomenInBusiness #WomenEntrepreneurs #WomenEconomicEmpowerment

Both organizations shared experiences and lessons on advancing economic justice for underserved and vulnerable communities, highlighting the importance of combining rights-based approaches with practical livelihood interventions. Discussions underscored the need for stronger linkages between enterprise development, business formalization, financial inclusion, safeguarding, and community accountability mechanisms. The meeting revealed significant complementarities between CREAW's practice-based experience in women's economic justice & advocacy and JJF's Jenga Bizna Mtaani community-based entrepreneurship & livelihood model. @WanguiMutumbu

🗣️ Bridging Generations, Building Safer Futures for Young People! Through the Sponsorship Programme, supported by Plan International Kenya, @MWARPKenya hosted inter-generational dialogues in Moyeni, Bang’a, Mwangani and Mazola in #Kinango Sub-County, bringing together adolescents and young people, adults and local authorities. The dialogues created safe spaces for different #generations to speak openly about Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), challenge harmful #beliefs and share #experiences and concerns affecting young people. 💡 The result? Stronger #communication between generations, increased understanding of adolescents’ #SRHR needs, and practical #solutions jointly identified to promote healthier, safer and more supportive communities for adolescents and young people. By bringing young people and decision-makers to the same table, we are strengthening meaningful dialogue, shared responsibility and community action for a future where every young person can access the information, support and services they need. #MWARPImpact #IntergenerationalDialogue #SRHR
