Governor Newsom’s signing of AB 1837 will help transit agencies keep bus lanes and transit stops clear. Authored by Assemblymember Mark González and co-sponsored by the California Transit Association, AC Transit, LA Metro, and Streets for All, the new law extends transit agencies’ authority to use camera technology to enforce parking violations in bus-only lanes and at transit stops through 2034. Keeping these areas clear helps buses stay on schedule, improves access for riders, and makes transit safer and more reliable for everyone.
