Texas athletics director Chris Del Conte released a statement on the behavior of the fan in this video from @ATXANT10:
“I want to address the video circulating on social media showing unacceptable behavior by an individual who had the privilege of field access following Saturday's game. We pride ourselves on sportsmanship and treating our opponents with respect. This individual's actions did not reflect those values or meet our standards and will not be tolerated. The matter has been addressed internally, and I want to personally apologize to the University of Florida and its entire football program. Having access to our field comes with a responsibility to represent Texas with class and respect. This individual failed to uphold that responsibility and has been permanently banned from Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.”
Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian said they haven't hurt the blitz enough or discouraged the blitz enough. He thinks there are things they can do differently schematically, and that has been addressed.
Per ESPN sources, Texas’ Colin Simmons is dealing with a high-ankle sprain. He’s not expected play this weekend against No. 7 Ole Miss and the injury is considered week-to-week. Orangebloods first reported high ankle sprain for Simmons.
Colin Simmons has an injury. Trainers checked his foot and then his ankle. Texas' best player is being helped off the field. As if things weren't going bad enough for the Horns.
Tramell Jones Jr. has completed 10 of his last 11 passes against this Texas defense, which is categorically failing to make him uncomfortable in the pocket.
We're tied, 17-17, with 6:50 to play in the third.
And just like that, Texas' CFP future is very much on the line. Gators drive 15 plays for 69 yards to tie it 17-17. The Gators went 5-for-5 on third down on that drive behind backup QB Tramell Jones.
The Horns ran for 108 yards on 18 carries (5.7 average) but struggled to finish drives in the first half. The 17-10 lead doesn't feel tenuous but after last week's theatrics against Oklahoma, it's anything but safe.
