Here's the most interesting thing I learned from 1,000 owners in
@ecomfuelco this month:
Small to medium-sized brands see big gains bringing ads in-house. If you're under $500K in annual ad spend you should, too.
One member noticed his agency's profit report left out one small cost: the agency. With fees added back in, Amazon (a third of his business) was barely profitable.
That's before the weekly Zooms, Slack pings, and meetings to prep for the meetings.
So he turned off the ads and let the agency go. Sales held, and a year later his Amazon sales are up about 40%.
He did the same with Google and now runs it himself with Claude in about an hour a week. Spend down 61%, sales up 57%.
Another member with a larger Amazon business took his account back and found 85% of his ad placements were breaking even or losing money.
Cutting them dropped spend by $100K a month while profit rose dramatically.
But it lines up with what paid traffic pro and friend
@andrewjfaris has repeatedly told our members:
Under ~$500K a year in spend? Bring ads in-house.
With platform MCPs and sharp AI skills, doing it yourself is more feasible than ever.
