I know many #Sonamy fans were excited to see these moments in the animated Sonic trailer released a few days ago. I waited for a couple of days before responding to the trailer because I was heavily annoyed with SEGA & Sonic Team. This isn’t the first time they sprinkled Sonamy breadcrumbs to keep fans guessing “Will they/Won’t they?” They’ve been doing this literally for decades to keep fans invested in wondering will it finally happen literally after more than 30+ years without establishing an actual romance between #Sonic and #AmyRose. I’m not trying to be a downer on anyone’s excitement, but we have to be reasonable and logical about this. SEGA and Sonic Team could have made Sonic and Amy into an actual romantic power couple decades ago, since 1993. They never did so for stupid reasons, yet they say they want Sonic and Amy to be like Mickey and Minnie and want to surpass Mario and Disney, but without the same conventional romantic dynamics between Mickey and Minnie. And as we can all see, this cat and mouse dynamic only built up decades of frustration, aggravation and discontent for numerous fans who’s been waiting for decades to see an actual romance between Sonic and Amy, not meaningless moments, little hints and clues that don’t build up or lead up to anything.

Last night, #Sonic took Vector’s advice & gave #AmyRose a night on the town & took her to a Carnival Night fair. But all was not moonlight & stars. Metal Sonic later arrived at the carnival hunting for Sonic & Amy, only to come across a Sonic decoy that the couple left for Metal Sonic to find before leaving, not wanting to have their date ruined with a battle because of the Metal menace. Amy (frustrated): “Even on a getaway vacation in South America, we can’t catch a break!” Sonic (enthusiastically): “Chillax Ames! Think of it as part of the getaway package: A new high speed adventure, just you & me against my Metal Wannabe.” Amy (now excited): “A new adventure!? Filled with romance & suspense!? The battle between Cream & Zeena in IDW Sonic issue 27 was toned down because Sonic Team stepped in & rejected the original draft. According to writer Ian Flynn, his original script for the “All or Nothing” story featured a much more brutal sequence where Zeena deliberately kicked Cream across the floor while she was already down. Sonic Team felt that showing a highly malicious physical assault against a young, innocent child character like Cream went “a bit too far” for the comic’s age rating. Though Tails, a young fox boy, getting a laser narrowly shot at his face by Dr. Eggman just after the Metal Virus crisis ended in issue 32 got a pass because of…reasons 🤷‍♂️. How The Scene In Issue 27 Was Changed: As a result of Sonic Team’s feedback, the final version redirected the physical aggression: Instead of directly brutalizing Cream, Zeena’s malice was focused on Gemerl, using her energy tethers to violently manipulate the robot into swinging at Cream. Zeena’s direct interaction with Cream was minimized to a less violent exchange where Zeena kicked Cream in the butt and into the air while she was already down, grabbed her by the ears, mocked her “moral high ground,” and threatened to drop her into the Zombot horde. This was follow up by Gemerl eventually being freed from Zeena’s control before grabbing and throwing Zeena into the Zombot horde instead. #Sonic #AmyRose #Knuckles #Tails

Blaze the Cat was removed from the Metal Virus arc in the IDW Sonic comics because the writers felt the plotlines planned for her were too dark. Lethal Fire: Her fire powers would have been able to permanently kill & incinerate the Zombots (the infected people), unlike standard methods that looked for a cure. Moral Dilemma: This would have forced Blaze into a heavy ethical conflict over whether she should use her flames to fight or hold back. Story Direction: Instead of participating in the zombie-like crisis, the creative team decided to write her out of the storyline & send her back to her own dimension. I wonder if Paramount will adapt the Metal Virus story in a future #Sonic Movie & bring Blaze into the movie to cross lines that IDW & Sonic Team were too scared to cross in the comics. #AmyRose #Knuckles #Tails

During the 4th Great Ninja War, Hinata is caught & paralyzed in the roots of the God Tree as Madara activated the Infinite Tsukuyomi. As the roots slowly engulfed her body, she mentally cried out “Naruto.” Naruto sensed her calling out to him across the distance & immediately tried to rush to her rescue. Sasuke stopped him from running toward her because moving in would have risk getting caught in the genjutsu of the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Both #AmyRose & Hinata Hyuuga called out to their respective love interests & both Sonic & Naruto received it across the distance. #Sonamy #Naruhina

Back in 2020, SEGA of Japan almost terminated Sonic Team & the Sonic franchise & this was during the Metal Virus story arc. This was also when Covid-19 was at its worst & when IDW Sonic went into a 6-month hiatus after issue 27. Could you imagine if #Sonic was cancelled on the darkest story arc where everyone and everything on the planet dies because of a deadly virus that Dr. Eggman engineered & lost control over? Paramount through the SCU stopped that disaster from happening.
