Thinking of families in #Nepal and #Tibet today. 💔 With hundreds of people killed, and thousands more injured or missing – many of them children – yesterday’s catastrophic flooding is not something we can look away from. Rising global temperatures will continue to make emergencies like these more commonplace. Children can’t wait for investment in disaster preparedness and heat resilience at the local, national and global levels: We need action now, for their sake.

When a community has lost everything to the chaos of an emergency, slowing down to play seems counterintuitive. But that’s exactly what children need most. This photo taken in Quezon Province, Philippines, in a childcare facility we supported after Typhoon Fung-wong devastated communities in November 2025, says it all. Led by our local partners, families and children themselves, communities are slowly beginning to rebuild and find joy again after tremendous loss. On World Humanitarian Day and every day, we’re so grateful for our humanitarian workers who put children first, no matter what – risking their comfort zone and even their lives to support the most vulnerable during crises.

Any weekend plans? In northern Kenya, Akai and her son Gregory are selling nutrient-rich sweet potatoes at market. 🍠 They learned how to farm this particular drought-resistant variety through a program built by ChildFund and our partners to help children in their area overcome malnutrition. The impact in their lives has been huge: "We used to get food by chance. Sometimes we had it, and sometimes we did not. When we started farming, there was enough food," Akai says. The situation in Venezuela is grave following Wednesday's devastating double earthquakes. At least 1,719 people have died, and thousands more are still missing.
