British industry doesn't stand a chance while the government continues to impose the radical green agenda, Net Zero plus all the other punitive taxes and red tape. Worse still, the "power elite" are also sabotaging the UK's role as a financial centre. telegraph.co.uk/business/202…

And some people say that cow farts are the problem…

🚆 Great news on TPE’s £1bn battery-electric train order & Scarborough charging hub! But new trains need better tracks. Upgrading the York–Scarborough line as part of #TRU is far cheaper & greener than dualling the A64—unlocking faster, half-hourly regional rail. 🧵👇 1/3 Bringing the York–Scarborough route into the Transpennine Route Upgrade framework will eliminate single-track bottlenecks at Malton and maximize the benefits of the new battery fleet. 2/3 While MPs call for costly A64 road expansion, rail upgrades deliver a far higher return on investment, cutting traffic gridlock and driving clean economic growth for the East Coast. 3/3 Modern trains + double-tracked, electrified infrastructure = the future North Yorkshire deserves. Not particularly new is it. Over 50 years ago I got bared from my local chippy when he realised I was returning bottles I hadn't bought there.

🚆 BRTA Northern submits representation on the York & North Yorkshire Draft Local Transport Plan! While we support targets to boost public transport and active travel, incremental bus tweaks alone won't cut it. Real modal shift demands an ambitious Re-Railing & Modal Integration Strategy. Key priorities submitted to @YorkNYCA & @MayorofYNY: 🔹 York–Scarborough Upgrade (TRU Extension): Extending electrification, track doubling, and signal upgrades past York to the coast—building on our constructive meeting with Mayor David Skaith & @AlisonHumeMP. 🔹 York–Harrogate Line Modernisation: Full double-tracking (removing Knaresborough–Cattal & Hammerton–Poppleton bottlenecks), electrification, and unpausing the York Area Capacity Scheme at Skelton Junction. 🔹 York–Sheffield Corridor: Cross-boundary line speed improvements, added capacity, and electrification to link North and South Yorkshire. 🔹 Reopening Skipton–Colne: Restoring the 12-mile cross-Pennine missing link for passengers and freight, easing road congestion across the Dales. 🔹 Protecting Trackbeds: Safeguarding corridors like York–Beverley, supporting the Wensleydale Railway through-link, and restoring rail access for Ripon & Grassington. 🔹 Freight & Integration: Shifting heavy freight from trunk roads to rail, alongside unified smart ticketing and timed rail-bus connections for rural communities Full details on our campaign: brtarail.com #ReRailBritain #NorthYorkshire #Transport #Rail #York #Scarborough #Harrogate #Skipton #Sheffield #PublicTransport

Check out my latest article: Making the most of Bedford's rail and strategic opportunities linkedin.com/pulse/making-mo… via @LinkedIn BRTA calls on the government to return to the pre 2004 view that #Northampton-#Bedford-#Cambridge rail link complementing #Oxford-Cambridge rails.

Interesting that the Housing Minister on @BBCr4today speaking of the ccause of more social and council housing. However, no mention/question from the interviewer on accompanying local rail infrastructure to provide better public transport and cut associated increases in traffic?

The motor industry has changed beyond recognition since I joined in 1979, and especially since I left in 2008. Fantastic to still see an independent franchised site up and running locally! #Ford #Knottingley

Please peruse the BRTA Blogspot: brtarailvolunteer.blogspot.c… Help bring to attention and raise support for a new-build Oxford/Northampton-Bedford-Cambridge cross-country rail link before it is too late! @BBCr4today @BBCR4Sunday @BBCPM @BBCNews Government @andyburnham needs more rail!
