Moving Earth Observation data is not a side task. 🌍 EO workflows often depend on large datasets that need to move between environments, regions, users or processing systems. Transfers need to be reliable. They need to be predictable. They need to fit into wider workflows without becoming a bottleneck. If this layer is not planned properly, teams can lose time, increase costs or create unnecessary complexity around otherwise well-designed services. 🔸 CloudFerro Earth Observation Data Transfer supports the movement of EO data across data environments, helping organisations manage large-scale satellite data flows more reliably. This matters for teams that build EO services, distribute datasets, support users or operate multi-environment workflows. Read more about remote transfer for EO data: creodias.eu/eobased-services…

For many years, one of the main challenges in Earth Observation was gaining access to the data needed for analysis. Today, for many organisations, the harder question is how to make that data usable at scale.🛰️   #EarthObservation datasets are growing quickly. They can support climate monitoring, public services, agriculture, security, research and commercial applications. But before teams can create value from them, they need reliable access, predictable availability and an environment suited to data-intensive work.    CloudFerro EOData is a large-scale repository of Earth Observation datasets from European and global satellite missions. Users of CloudFerro Public Cloud can access the repository directly and process the data close to where it is stored, without first transferring large datasets to another environment.   The benefits go beyond operational efficiency. EOData is hosted on EU-based infrastructure trusted by European public institutions, supporting organisations with data residency, governance and technological sovereignty requirements. 🇪🇺    The value of satellite data depends not only on having access to it. It also depends on whether organisations can process and govern it efficiently, within an infrastructure they can trust.

There is a problem with declaring complete technological sovereignty: very few technology providers can honestly claim it. Even when you control your infrastructure, software stack and operations, you still depend on a wider supply chain. Therefore, we think sovereignty should not be approached as a simple yes-or-no question. Something else matters here:  ➡️ understanding the different layers of dependency, measuring how much control we actually have and identifying where we need greater independence. This is also why we find the @EU_Commission Cloud Sovereignty Framework useful. It gives us a more structured way to assess sovereignty instead of treating it as a marketing declaration. The objective is not to claim that every dependency has disappeared. It is to understand those dependencies, control what we can and systematically reduce the risks associated with the rest.  That seems a much more practical approach to building Europe's technological independence.

🛰️ Space is becoming critical infrastructure. And its future depends on much more than satellites. We're back from the International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2026) in Antalya, with a few important observations about where the global space sector is heading. 1. Space is increasingly about security and resilience. 2. The entire space value chain matters. 3. Partnerships are as important as technology. 4. Europe needs to turn ambition into capabilities faster. 🇪🇺 For CloudFerro, these discussions reinforce something we see in our daily work: the future of the space sector depends on connecting space infrastructure with the data platforms, computing resources and applications that make its capabilities useful on Earth. And next year, the conversation comes to Poland! 🇵🇱 The 78th International Astronautical Congress will take place in Poznań on 27 September – 1 October 2027. See you in Poznań!

Not every task should require a server. In many cloud environments, teams need to run small pieces of logic: process an event, trigger a workflow, transform data, connect services or automate a repeated task. Traditionally, even these small tasks could require provisioning and maintaining infrastructure. Someone had to manage the environment, keep it available, scale it when needed and make sure it was not consuming resources unnecessarily. For larger systems, that overhead can accumulate quickly. This is where a serverless approach becomes useful. 🔸 CloudFerro Functions is designed to help teams run event-driven tasks without managing the underlying servers. Instead of focusing on infrastructure setup, developers can focus on the logic they want to execute.

🌍 Technology can help us better understand and protect our planet. But the infrastructure behind that technology also has an environmental footprint. For technology providers, environmental responsibility therefore cannot be limited to sustainability commitments. It needs to be reflected in everyday decisions about how infrastructure is designed, developed and operated. At CloudFerro, we address it through measures such as sourcing electricity from renewable sources, improving the efficiency of our storage infrastructure and reusing hardware components wherever technically feasible. 🌱  Read CloudFerro Sustainability Report 2025: cloudferro.com/sustainabilit… The image is one of the winners of the 6th edition of the contest 'Seize the beauty of our Planet' organized annually by CloudFerro. What does the raw power of nature look like from space? That's the challenge of the 7th edition of CloudFerro's contest “Seize the Beauty of Our Planet”. If you’re a student, researcher, data scientist or simply enjoy working with Earth observation data, find a place where nature still dominates the landscape. It could be an ocean, a glacier, a forest, a desert, a volcano, or something entirely different. Explore the theme, create your satellite image and enter the contest. Use Copernicus Earth observation data available through platforms such as @creodias , @CopernicusEU, @WEkEO_dias or CODE-DE-Lab to prepare your entry. Submissions are open until 25 October. There are some great prizes, too: 🥇 Apple iPad 11 🥈 Apple Watch Series 11 🥉 Apple AirPods Pro 3 Find out more and join the contest: cloudferro.com/contest2026/

🇪🇺 In Europe, we are investing in AI infrastructure, cloud, space and defence. We are creating new regulations and funding programmes to support sovereign European technologies. All of this matters. But there is another part of the equation that receives less attention: ➡️ DEMAND. Technology does not reach scale because it has been developed or funded. It reaches scale when someone buys it. If Europe wants its technology companies to compete globally, it needs not only the right conditions for innovation, but also a market in which European technologies can grow. This is where public procurement and large European customers can make a difference. Not by protecting European companies from competition, but by giving competitive technologies a real path from pilot project to deployment and from deployment to scale. 📈

Before Earth Observation data can create value, it needs to enter the workflow reliably. 🌍   For many organisations, this is one of the less visible but most important parts of building EO-based services.   Satellite data has to be retrieved from data providers, validated, organised and made available in the right environment before analysis, processing or distribution can begin. If this step is unstable, everything that follows becomes harder to operate.   CloudFerro EO Data Ingestion supports the reliable flow of Earth Observation data into CloudFerro cloud environments, delivering data to storage and making it ready for processing and further use across EO workflows.

◾◽ When does object storage become the right choice? Not every type of data fits neatly into a traditional file or disk model. Teams working with large volumes of unstructured data often need a different approach. This can include satellite imagery, AI datasets, logs, backups, archives, research data or application-generated content. 🔶 CloudFerro Object Storage is designed for scalable storage of large amounts of unstructured data in a European cloud environment. It supports teams that need to keep data accessible for applications, analytics, AI workflows or Earth Observation services without tying it to a single machine. For data-intensive organisations, this flexibility matters. As datasets grow, storage should not become the bottleneck that limits how teams work with data.

Europe’s technological sovereignty will not be decided by infrastructure alone. 🇪🇺 “Building an AI Gigafactory is an engineering and logistics challenge that we know how to solve in Poland. The harder part is ensuring its economic rationale for the next ten years,” points out Stanisław Krzyżanowski, Strategy & New Business Director at @CloudFerro. This is why the debate around AI infrastructure should also be a debate about public procurement, long-term demand planning, open standards, interoperability, local content and European value added. This perspective also connects with a broader point raised in the latest edition of Gazeta Finansowa (a Polish financial and economic weekly) in an article on technological sovereignty and Europe’s growing focus on reducing critical digital dependencies ➡️ gf24.pl/49682/suwerennosc-w-…

Deploying an ML model is not the end of the job.   A model that performed well during testing can behave differently once it starts working with new, real-world data.    Behind the scenes, teams need visibility across the model lifecycle: which experiment produced the model, which version is deployed, how performance changes over time. This is where CloudFerro AI Experiments becomes useful. It helps track experiments, manage model versions and monitor deployed models in one managed environment. It supports performance metrics, drift detection, prediction logging and auditability across ML projects.   For organisations working with sensitive or data-intensive AI workloads, this visibility supports better governance and more controlled AI operations within a European cloud environment.
