Selecting the 44 players for the Shrine Bowl and 88 for the North/South game is an incredibly difficult responsibility. There are talented players across our state, and with limited roster spots, some deserving athletes will be left off. We understand the disappointment for players, families, schools, and coaches. But publicly ridiculing the All-Star staffs is not the way to express that disappointment. These decisions are made after careful consideration by people who care deeply about South Carolina football and its athletes. We can disagree or feel disappointed while still showing respect for those who serve the game. Congratulations to every player selected, and to all the athletes who are having outstanding seasons. As a 35 year old head coach, when the wet bulb readings are going up and down, the schedule needs changed due to things outside of your control, the coaches you work with, and the players you work for, and life is on you, it still means a lot when an old coach checks in on you!

Let’s get on it South Carolina! Even if it’s just half a field it’s better than nothing. This can be used for multiple sports
