RECRUITING TALK: STARS, NO STARS & NIL 🏈 As a high school coach, I want players and parents to understand this: recruiting stars can help open doors, but they don’t determine how far you can go. Respect the players who earned those ratings. Many are outstanding athletes who put in serious work. But understand what a star rating represents: a recruiting service’s evaluation and projection at a particular point in a player’s development. It is not a scholarship, a starting position, a degree or a guaranteed NFL career. And being unrated does NOT mean a college coaching staff cannot evaluate you, recruit you or offer you a scholarship. Some players develop later. Some receive less exposure. Some haven’t been evaluated extensively. Others need to improve before they’re ready for the next level. Our job as coaches is to give an honest assessment and help each player build a realistic path. College coaches recruit for THEIR roster. Your film, verified measurables, academics, position fit, development and character all matter. A recruiting website doesn’t make their final decision. Want proof that an unrated player can build a professional career? Josh Allen left high school without stars, went through junior college and earned his opportunity at Wyoming. His path proves it is possible—not that it is easy or guaranteed. Now let’s address NIL. There is no recruiting-star requirement for a legitimate NIL opportunity. NIL means a business compensates you for using your name, image or likeness through activities such as endorsements, promotional content or appearances. Stars may increase visibility, but businesses can also value your audience, community connections, credibility and ability to represent their brand. An unrated player with an engaged local following and professional habits can offer value to a business. That does not guarantee a deal, and every athlete should have realistic expectations about the money involved. Start building those habits now: • Put quality football on film. • Protect your grades and eligibility. • Make your recruiting information easy to find. • Communicate professionally. • Build authentic community relationships. • Create useful, consistent content. • Follow through when you make a commitment. Understand this distinction, too: a scholarship, third-party NIL deal and direct payment from a college are different things. An offer does not automatically include all three. Before accepting NIL compensation, verify the rules that apply to your school, athletic association and future college. Have agreements reviewed and meet applicable reporting requirements. My advice: choose a college where you can develop, afford your education and prepare for life. Evaluate the coaching, academics, roster and total financial package. Football can lead to college, professional opportunities, coaching, business and relationships that last well beyond your playing days. The NFL is one possible outcome—not the only meaningful career. Rated players: keep earning it. Unrated players: keep developing and getting evaluated. Your rating can describe where you are today. It cannot finish your story. You’re welcome. #sfaacadenyfootball #FootballRecruiting #RecruitingEducation #StudentAthlete #NIL #HighSchoolFootball #9091sportsagency

SFA Academy doesn’t have a multi-million dollar weight room. We don’t have Thousands of students,We don’t have a sprawling campus, heck we don’t have prom, homecoming dances or girls for that matter…However What SFA Academy DOES HAVE is 98% of our seniors have offers on all levels, a head coach that grinds for his players, a coaching staff that has real high level D1 and NFL experience, One of the hardest schedules in Florida, and an owner who arranged for OUR PLAYERS to play paintball with KODAK BLACK on Friday AND who is throwing Tampas biggest RAP concert Saturday and gave our players FREE Tickets. At SFA Academy we’re family. We win TOGETHER. We lose together. At the end of the day, we’re family regardless. #nocconcert #sfaacademyfootball #thelockerroom #offerhs

If you get the opportunity to play football at the next level-you’ve been blessed. Whether it’s D1,D2, D3 NAIA or the Juco route. Half of you have a misconception about NAIA. I hope this helps clear it up… Key Features of the NAIA •Scholarships: Unlike NCAA Division III, NAIA schools do offer athletic scholarships. They typically use an "equivalency" model, meaning coaches are given a pool of scholarship money that they can divide into partial scholarships among multiple players. •Competition Level: The athletic caliber in the NAIA is generally considered comparable to NCAA Division II or high-end Division III. Top-tier NAIA programs regularly compete with and beat lower-tier NCAA D2 and D1 schools. •Fewer Recruiting Rules: The NAIA has no strict recruiting calendars, dead periods, or communication limits. Coaches can talk to or evaluate high school athletes at any point in the year, making the process much more flexible for recruits. •Streamlined Eligibility: The NAIA Eligibility Center clears athletes based on straightforward requirements, usually revolving around high school graduation, GPA, and class rank. You’re welcome.
