Mystery season 👀
🔎 On April 15 2005 District Attorney Ray Gricar called his girlfriend to say he was taking a mental health day.
He hopped into his red Mini Cooper and drove along the Susquehanna River toward the antique town of Lewisburg Pennsylvania.
He was 59 years old respected meticulous and just months away from retirement. He was never seen alive again.
The next day police found his car parked outside an antique store. His cell phone was inside the vehicle but his wallet keys and all personal belongings were gone.
There was no sign of a struggle and no blood forensics.
Months later fishermen pulled his county issued laptop from the Susquehanna River. The hard drive had been deliberately unscrewed and removed.
Later that year the missing hard drive washed up on the riverbank nearby.
When FBI forensic experts examined it they found it had been destroyed with severe magnet damage and water immersion. Not a single byte of data could be recovered.
Investigators were left with three baffling possibilities:
Was it retaliation from a convicted criminal he prosecuted over his two decade career?
An exhaustive investigation uncovered zero active threats or retaliatory plots.
Did he voluntarily vanish to start a new life elsewhere?
No financial movements fake identities or confirmed sightings have ever been found.
Or was it a methodical crime by someone who knew exactly what evidence to destroy on that laptop?
Ray Gricar was officially declared legally dead in 2011. The case remains open unadjudicated and completely cold 🔎
