Teacher: “You scored 42%. There’s nothing to argue about.”
My younger sister came home from school in tears, holding her mathematics result.
Sister: “I know I did better than this. I checked every answer before submitting.”
Mom: “Maybe you made mistakes you didn’t notice.”
Sister: “Mom, I got 86% in the last test. I studied harder for this one.”
The next morning, I accompanied her to school to ask the teacher to review the paper.
Teacher: “Your sister isn’t the only student who thinks she deserves a higher score.”
Me: “We’re not asking you to increase her marks. We just want to see where she lost them.”
He reluctantly brought out her answer sheet.
As I went through it, I noticed something strange. Several correct answers had been marked wrong, even though the teacher’s own corrections matched what my sister had written.
Me: “Sir, can you explain this question? Her answer is correct.”
He took the paper from me.
Teacher: “I said the result stands.”
My sister started crying again.
Then another student waiting outside the classroom stepped forward.
Student: “Sir, please check mine too. I think the same thing happened to me.”
The teacher’s face changed.
