Two 4-1 teams stepped onto the field Friday, and more than three hours later, Ransom Everglades and Miami Westminster Christian were still fighting for the last word. Every time it seemed like one team might take control, the other came right back. The lead never felt safe, the clock kept moving, and neither sideline was ready to give an inch. Only one team could leave with the win, and Ransom Everglades had to battle all the way to the end to earn it, 48-41.
Colton Smith
@Colt10Smith gave the Raiders a huge lift in the middle of that madness. He turned 7 catches into 193 yards and 2 TDs, making himself a threat every time the ball went his way. He added 2 punt returns for 24 yards, giving him 217 all-purpose yards in a game where every yard mattered. Westminster Christian had to deal with him as a receiver and account for him when it kicked the ball away, yet Colton kept finding ways to leave his mark on a game that refused to settle down.
That is what made this battle so gripping. Both teams had already shown they could win, and both kept swinging with the game hanging in the balance. Colton delivered when Ransom Everglades needed big plays, but there was no chance for anyone to relax until the final whistle. After all that scoring, all that fight, and more than three hours of football, the Raiders were the ones still standing.
