Huge data centre plan sees hundreds attend meeting
The Longmarsh Green Energy (LGE) project would cover 4,695 acres (1,900 hectares) of farmland across two sites south of King's Lynn in Norfolk.
Destroying so much land and nature is unacceptable

Inspectors examining a councilβs draft local plan that proposes to deliver just 53 per cent of its local housing need have found it to be unsound and suggested the release of green belt sites for development in order for the strategy to progress.

You need to educate the Councils! Trafford will not consider our alternative that will be much safer, much healthier and much more cost effective than their proposal to build yet more road capacity & will see walkers, cyclists & horse riders adjacent to 30k vehicles a day!
Nearly 30,000 people were killed or seriously injured on Britainβs roads last year.
That should shape where police focus, not the latest outrage.
Itβs time to push the facts to the front. By me in @spectator:

π¨ Upward extensions coming soon to Hackney.
This is HUGE NEWS for more housing in London.
The planning inspector has backed the Stamford Hill Area Action Plan.
This means Hackney is now one step closer to bringing South Tottenhamβs upward extensions, used by 60% of eligible homes, to Stamford Hill.
π· Here's what Stamford Hill's upward extensions will look like.
βSea Linkβ sounds benign. But at its landing point on Minster Marshes (Kent) it will cause habitat and species devastation. National Grid was asked to look at alternatives but ploughed ahead. The Secretary of State approved it last week.
'Affordable' emptyhomes that aren't.. affordable, don't sell and arent occupied.
More of #TheWrongHousing we've been building in London for years, backed by public money, policy and 'esteemed' institutions like L&G

π¨ The UKβs spy chiefs have warned that nature loss is a national security threat. Parliament debated it but the Government still hasnβt said how it'll respond.
πΏ We need this assessment turned into an emergency plan for action, now.

I warned the Office for Environmental Protection that polluters were paying cash to trash nature and potentially breaching the law.
The @OfficeforEP has echoed my concerns that the first scheme under the new Planning Act risks worse outcomes for nature.
This must not go ahead.
The Planning Act promised a win-win for nature and housing.
But the first scheme under these new rules now risks killing chalk streams and appears to breach the law.
The Office for Environmental Protection must step in before a "pay cash to trash" precedent is set.
The corporate vandalism continues in St Albans for a gigantic βrailβ freight interchange..another 70 mature trees felled for road visibility reasons . thatβs at least 1K mature trees gone for this βcarbon reducingβ development that was always going to be predominantly road freight ..shame on @SEGROplc and @hertsccstalbanstimes.co.uk/park-strβ¦
We are with you @mitchellsnik-this government is committing ecocide, there is nothing sustainable about such wanton destruction-it & other similarly harmful developments (like Trafford's plan to completely destroy a 335 ha peatmoss) are a betrayal of current & future generations
Heartbroken. After 4 years of campaigning to protect our beautiful coastline and countryside, the government has given the Sea Link project the green light.
Devastated for our local environment and habitats, but so proud of our community's fight.

Colindale being advertised in Kuala Lumper.
Anyone else find this uncomfortable?
We have a UK housing crisis and we have a developer model that is supported by our government and council it seems that sells half abroad.
We've written to Planning Committee asking them to consider a compromise solution which would see the western section of the Carrington Relief Road moving forward at pace, with the eastern section being subject to a detailed review, to assess & minimise harms
This is relevant to anyone who:
- thinks their electricity bill is too high;
- values our landscapes, heritage and nature;
- thinks that our grid upgrade should be for public benefit, not National Gridβs shareholders
TOMORROW 2nd Nov: Webinar at 6pm with @nickrosen2
We welcome Nick Rosen, energy campaigner, to talk with us about upgrading the existing grid, offshore coordination, HVDC undergrounding, cable ploughing, local community generation.
