Weather and Road Safety Update
Cork County Council is responding to reports of more than 40 fallen trees and branches across County Cork overnight. Council crews are currently attending incidents and working to clear affected areas as quickly and safely as possible.
Up to 60mm of rainfall has been recorded in parts of the county overnight. While no river flooding has been reported at this time, localised ponding and surface water remain a concern and may create hazardous conditions on roads, particularly during the morning commute.
Members of the public are urged to exercise caution if travelling this morning.
County Cork remains under a Status Yellow Rain and Wind Warning until 10.00am.
Potential impacts include:
Difficult travelling conditions
Localised flooding
Fallen trees and branches
Debris and loose objects being displaced
Delays on local roads
Disruption to outdoor events and activities
Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are advised to remain vigilant, slow down where necessary, and allow extra time for their journeys. Unnecessary travel should be avoided where conditions are hazardous.
Cork County Council will continue to monitor conditions and respond to incidents as they arise. Members of the public are encouraged to stay informed of weather warnings and follow any safety advice issued by the emergency services and local authorities.
