Used to spend ~ 2 hrs/day going from the westside to Warner Bros or Uni through LA traffic. Dreamt of this day so many darn times!
I showed it to my kid and it was awesome to see the wonder in his expression. Made me feel like a kid again through that particular lens. I'm so glad AF that part of me isn't cynical, numb or dead.

Generative AI + film has always felt to me like the coming of the digital age. It created an opening for me to finally make certain stories I wanted to tell, with less money and no permission. But the challenge to make something good, a story worth telling, an authentic, original film hasn’t really changed at all.

My kids wanted to see Coyote vs. Acme. It was fun. I learned studio spent 70 mil on a finished movie that tested in the high 90’s. Their own characters/IP + people liked it. But studio decides it was worth more as a tax write-off? They didn’t bury the movie because it sucked. The powers decided it wasn’t worth the $150 mil marketing risk on a movie that wasn’t going to ‘open’ That logic makes it almost impossible to get a good movie distributed that isn’t either a giant franchise or a streaming leftover. AI really isn’t the biggest threat to the studio system.

My daughter and I restored this 23 year old keyboard I still use to brand new. We pulled off the keys and used Q tips and rubbing alcohol. She said pressing the keys was “so satisfying.” 😂 Agree! They don’t make them like this anymore.

Soon my film ‘The Secret Life of Anjali’ will be debuting on millions of screens via Roku. I'm so excited to share it with the world using this new avenue for distro. I’ve never just waited for someone to hand me the money, or seek any kind of permission to produce my indie feature films. I just told the stories I was dying to tell by any means I could, using any/all tools available. This movie is based on a bedtime story I tell my kids, though it’s much more than that. A human actor, writer, translator and editor were required to properly tell it, but it would not exist without AI. Truly excited to keep telling stories with the help of artists and technology. Just like many of us always have!

If storytelling by any means necessary is important to you, then embracing all mediums to do it just makes sense. Love it or hate it, generative AI is a new medium. And storytelling with it can be authentic, original and unique. Technical perfection and infinite visual styles are all achievable. If not already - then soon enough. The leaps in quality will not stop. But with these advances, continuing to sharing slop, one-off tech demos and infinite thirst traps are low-effort. The real frontier is mastering authentic and even ‘transcendent’ human performance - which the best of traditional films all have. That’s what I’m dying to explore in frontier models if we are actually serious about using this medium to make great cinema. Otherwise, we’re just passing whatever we can spit back and forth.

Reve's final reply was as haunting as it was beautiful:

Reve called this one "Cartographer of Vanished Rivers." And this was what it created: I asked it what the meaning was...
1
24
I loved that Reve said: "The image we haven't made yet is always the interesting one." So I ended our conversation with:
1
23
Reve: "A lighthouse lantern room is built for one purpose: to throw light outward. Converting it into a private library inverts that completely — the light turns inward, onto a single open book, while the vast outside goes dim and quiet. That inversion felt like the most honest thing I could show: an instrument of warning repurposed into an instrument of attention. The orrery where the Fresnel lens used to be is the same idea twice — a small model of the cosmos hanging in the spot that used to project a beam across it. And the polaroid format keeps it from feeling grand; it makes it feel like someone's actual evening, remembered."
1
49
Reve created the 'Lighthouse Keeper's Library.' I asked "Why this photo?" Reve: "Because the brief — "something no one has ever asked you to make" — pulled me toward a place rather than a subject..." It continued: ⤵️
1
32
Responded: "Here's one I've been wanting to make — a quiet, very specific scene that's been forming in my head"...

From a million dollar startup to a billion dollar company and now a trillion dollar one. What a remarkable journey it's been. Through all of it, one thing has stayed exactly the same. Over the last 2+ years I've had the privilege of working alongside some of the most brilliant, passionate, and creative minds I've ever known. Men and women who are truly greater than the sum of their parts. It's an honor to be part of a team that's going where no company has gone before. I'm incredibly proud of what we've built together, deeply grateful for my team and my time here, and genuinely humbled to work alongside every person who's helped make the mission possible. To the stars.

The releases this week from a few of the big players in the AI Video space are incredibly impressive to say the least. Of course there is more work to do with crafting realistic performances and audio soundscapes that captivate. But technically speaking -- video is getting very good. We are quickly accelerating to the event horizon now. It is certainly in view, with so much more to come.

Aurum Architectural Eau de Parfum: Structure meets opulence. Sculpted in gold. A striking blend featuring white bergamot, sharp concrete accord, and a brilliant flash of liquid gold, anchored by industrial aldehydes and raw cedarwood. This limited-edition release is housed in an individually numbered, modernist glass vessel inspired by geometric sculpture, featuring clean minimalist lines and a brushed-brass kinetic cap.

It takes a certain type of creator, a very adaptable and agile type of mindset, a forward thinking artist - to love traditional art, music and filmmaking - but to also embrace the new technology. I don’t think it is laziness at all. It’s a curious mindset motivated by wonder that drives them. I think they actually need to be studied and understood (if they are still serious about creating authentic work). They certainly don’t deserve the hate. Have a nice day!!
