Stanley Kubrick understood the virtue of banning films. He banned two of his own 👑

A big thing to learn is not be too hard on yourself for "wasting time" because it just causes a further spiral. It's ok to do nothing sometimes

Maybe liberals who get their jollies invoking conservative tropes as elemental fears arent operating in good faith after all!

The only slasher movies I have seen are Black Christmas and April Fools Day and I have nothing but good things too say of them
“there’s very little to it” is a take only possible if you’ve seen maybe six slashers and decided that’s the whole genre. horror is one of the most socially and politically loaded genres in film. YOU not noticing that says more about your watchlist than the genre, lol go watch something.

At what point are creators just reinforcing conservative values by invoking them

Horror is the most politically and socially daring genre mainly because of it still being considered outsider art to a certain extent. People forget how progressive a lot of the torchbearers are. But yeah, because you don’t like it means it lacks artistic value gotcha

Sorry I'm watching a 💎 from a master of the genre instead of a hack like Stephen King
Horror movie revisionism has led people to feel the genre is somehow universally respecable and its just not. There's very little to it and the exceptions are what critics have held otherwise and there's genuine good in keeping regressive trash out of public view

We shouldn't be watching movies at all. We should be reading up on Symbolic Logic and Ontological Analysis while we listen to atonal classical music.

Spielberg said he “didn’t take [Poltergeist] that seriously” and when Hooper started making it good, Spielberg’s plan to sabotage the horror genre began to sour, climaxing in Obsession overtaking Disclosure Day in the box office. Guy hates the genre!

If horror was a respectable genre why did Steven Spielberg have to possess the body of Tobe Hooper in order to direct Poltergeist
