Tax should be priced at a specific amount that the government has set out for a particular development/project that the public has agreed is for the greater good of the country. Expenditure by the government must be justified by the penny. We are funding it to improve our country. It isn’t a birthright or a certainty of life to steal civilisations money to spend it on nonsense. Like the famous quote we’ve been brainwashed into believing “death and taxes are the only certain things of life”. Why are they held to a different standard than us? We must justify our expenditure to them every year. We’ve been conditioned over time into believing the government is the authority. But no, they are voted in to represent the people and work on behalf of the people. Not to become an authoritarian. You are a patriotic representative. It is objectively absurd to tax the entire country a fixed percentage (let billionaires and corporations get tax cuts) and then decide you can do whatever you want with that prize pool like it’s your entitlement. Create a detailed plan of what you think the country should spend money on, adjust the percentage annually, let the people vote on where it is being spent and justify how every penny of our money was spent. You pay almost 50% tax in some countries to fund wars nobody agreed to and create a welfare state for immigrants to abuse. We’re getting to a point in civilisation where even the dumbest of people are aware of this blatant tyranny and theft. Even the biggest victim in school eventually stands up to the bully when the bully takes things too far.
