The INTELLIGENT are instructed by reason, which is why they're so often wrong. Pure reason depends entirely on your predicates, which are heavily influenced by your drives, desires, and experiences.
The WISE are instructed by OTHER PEOPLE'S experiences, so they can look and learn and not have to suffer their pain.
It's a cliché now, but not all intelligent people are wise, and not all wise people are intelligent. Wisdom starts with acknowledging that one has limitations. Humility, in other words.
Far too many highly intelligent people have never really understood or accepted that they have intellectual or experiential limitations. Some things you can only learn by doing; some things you can only understand by experiencing; some things you have to be humble to accept.
Raw intelligence is the most powerful tool available to human beings, but it has to be shackled to wisdom for it to be used profitably. Otherwise, it'll waste its power chasing down blind paths already well trod time and again over the centuries, or building utopias in the mind that'll never work in the mud.
Real-world applications of intelligence requires practical experience and knowledge, humility and wisdom, but partnered with those raw intelligence can move the world.
