The double drop from the Premier League to League One seems to be becoming more common.
This year, Burnley could be the third club in successive seasons to double drop.
With parachute payments set to be reconfigured, could it happen more?

The first tentative steps to end the 3pm TV blackout have been taken by Scottish football as it seeks offers for the next broadcast cycle.
This cycle provides a unique opportunity as rights deals for the Premier League, EFL and SPFL all end in 2028-29.

What are we doing here?
BTW if the panel judges a red card is incorrect, does that lead to sanctions on the ref? Or is it just a bit of a review type thing, for the sake of it?
Referee Thomas Bramall.
Also the referee for Sunderland v Brighton who gave a red card for DOGSO through VAR.
That was overturned on appeal by the FA because there was clear doubt whether keeper or striker gets there first.
Same situation here. #IPSFOR
I think the referee has made the correct decision to reject the red card and give a yellow.
The speed the ball moves suggests it was a possible scoring chance rather than obvious.
Close call though and more a red than Struijk.
The VAR got involved for a red.
The referee rejected the red card and decided it was only worthy of a yellow.
Once at the monitor the referee can do whatever he wants.
Crazy stat.
Up until this year, no team in English football had EVER gone a full year without a home win.
In 2026, TWO teams have done it.
Sheffield Wednesday set the record at 376 days in May.
Burnley will surpass it, reaching 378 days when they are next at home on 31 Oct.
It appears to be over.
If all of Asia, Africa and Conmebol - and 10 of the 11 members of Oceania - vote for Gianni Infantino he has 120 votes.
He needs 106 to win.
Unless Uefa can find a candidate, and uncover something to move the dial.
Time was always on Infantino's side.

Howard Webb the foul by Newcastle's Sven Botman's on Aston Villa's Nicolas Jackson was a "high-end reckless challenge".
He backed the VAR's decision not to intervene for a red card on referee's call.
NB: A reckless challenge is a yellow card.

A few weeks ago I sat down with Brighton's sporting director.
He talked through how Brighton identify, attract and nurture young players around the world. Turning them from rough diamonds in to transfer gold.

As it stands Manchester City are guilty of all charges related to the Premier League financial rules.
But the club continue to insist they are innocent.
Do City have any grounds to win their appeal?
