Airlines and the Liberals are all trick and no treat when it comes to air passenger rights. Airlines are exploiting a loophole to deny compensation after moving working aircraft to other routes. I asked the government to close it. The response was that airlines are responsible for following the rules. Parliament gave the government the power to act in 2023. This loophole must be closed. It’s time to expressly ban the practice and enforce the rules.

More temporary foreign workers. Lower wages and lost jobs for Canadians. Mark Carney is only interested in profiting corporate powerbrokers at the expense of our working class.
I was actually really surprised to discover that the number of foreign workers in Canada is *higher than it's ever been.* All Carney has done is slow the intake (and even that's still pretty high).

Anyone who has used the big Canadian accounting firms know that junior, entry-level accountants cycle through regularly. Junior, entry-level accountants are generally in the process of preparing to write the CFE and the mandatory 30-month practical work experience term in order to obtain their CPA. It's mind-boggling that accounting firms are now hiring foreign accountants in a city such as Toronto when many recent Canadian accounting need those jobs to be able to fulfill the requirements for professional designation. This doesn't just rob young Canadian accounting grads of real job opportunities, it also makes it far harder for them to take and pass the qualifying exams they need to become CPAs. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
KPMG is trying to hire 15 foreign accountants in downtown Toronto at $80,000+ each. In four days, Mark Carney will let corporations hire high wage occupations from abroad without even trying to hire a Canadian first. Toronto’s unemployment rate is sitting at 7% with youth unemployment at 17%. KPMG should be hiring and training Canadians, not getting a free pass to bypass local workers.

Liberals love having strategies the same way old people like having fine China in a cabinet tucked away somewhere where it never actually gets used.

From the crypts of Parliament: for Halloween, I asked the Bank of Canada Governor a question for some spooky fun, but no one, including me, expected what came next. Was it trick or treat? 🎃

People wonder if all the announcements, meetings and ribbon cuttings by the Carney Liberals amount to anything. Are they serious about getting major projects like Roberts Bank Terminal 2 done faster? There are questions about how much they actually bring to the table. We take a closer look. Cue the Dueling Banjos. 🪕

I remain amazed at Mark Carney's ability to constantly convene extremely expensive meetings where nothing happens. He's truly a master at this.

What does associate membership in the European Union actually mean for Canada? Would it mean adopting EU taxes? EU immigration policies? Other EU regulations and policies that will dictate Canadian legislation? How much taxpayer dollars will go to European causes? Mark Carney suggested that closer ties with the EU would increase Canadians' freedoms. But how exactly would that work? How does aligning ourselves with a distant political and economic union give Canadians more freedom? Building a strong independent Canada should mean strengthening our borders, protecting our national identity, defending our values and freedoms, and preserving our sovereignty. What does the EU know about the needs of Skeena—Bulkley Valley? What does EU know about the challenges facing our communities? Canadians deserve to know exactly what closer alignment with the EU would mean for our sovereignty and our ability to make decisions for ourselves.
