Isn't the NDP supposed to be our pro-worker party? How can they defend mass immigration? A policy used by large corporations to undermine organized labour and depress wages. How can they defend giving healthcare to non-citizens while our own people suffer and die on waitlists?
I’m hearing from friends in Alberta that today is actually hitting folks pretty hard. Not the vote to remain, which was a relief, but the other 9 questions. It’s becoming clear that the feeling of unity suggested by the referendum result is undercut by majority support for questions which feature policies that scapegoat migrants. But no amount of punching down by Danielle Smith will fix Alberta’s health care, public education or cost-of-living crises. These are the consequences of years of underfunding, not of newcomers trying to build a life in that beautiful province. Albertans deserve real solutions to the crises they face, not scapegoating that divides us and fuels prejudice. Right now, all Canadians have an opportunity to reject this and say: we stand with migrants facing the brunt of this cynical, negative politics. A united Canada must mean more than just rejecting separation. It must mean actually standing up for all of us — building a movement across our differences to make this a country where everyone can live a life of dignity, equality and belonging.

Alberta seperatists and Dominion Society members putting their differences aside and coming together to fight for REMIGRATION was not on my bingo card The seperatist movement may be dead but the anti-immigration movement is just getting started Exciting times ahead in Canada

The Canadian government bragging that a quarter of "Canadians" feel no sense of belonging in our country is craaazy
41.8M people. 450 languages spoken at home. Three in four Canadians reporting a strong sense of belonging in our country. Canada has a lot of stories hiding in the numbers. What fact would you most like to put a number on?#Statistics 🇨🇦📊

The issue of our time is not Confederation, it is Immigration. My message to my brothers in Alberta and Quebec is the same: What is the point of independence if our people are replaced with Indians and Africans? We have a narrow window to make this work. 10-15 years at most. We can't afford to waste time and resources divided into separate movements. We must unite around the most important issue under a single banner. We can only succeed if we work together.
CALLING ALL ALBERTA SEPARATISTS 🗣️ The results of yesterday's referendum are clear. Separation is a dead end. The energy and momentum is behind immigration reform. It's time to put your time, efforts, and resources behind the most import cause facing Canada: Remigration. Separatists have many legitimate grievances. Alberta has been treated unfairly by Ottawa, without a doubt. But right now the most pressing threat facing Alberta is not politicians in Ottawa. It is the millions of foreigners flooding into the province and transforming it into something else. I don't care if you're a separatist or a federalist. We must put our differences aside and embrace remigration before our country is lost. We must reassert our unique culture and heritage and create an immigration policy that protects that identity. Millions must go. Polls show, and last night's results reaffirm, that there is massive support for restricting immigration and deporting foreigners who shouldn't be here. It is our job to convert that support into political pressure. As well, foreigners will always vote overwhelmingly against separation. If you do truly want to leave Confederation, we must have remigration first. Long Live Alberta. Long Live Canada. join.dominionsociety.ca

I agree with Daniel. It's an existential threat.

A one-way economy flight from Toronto to India is about $700. One billion dollars would pay for 1.4 million Indians to remigrate. There are between 2 and 3 million Indians in Canada. Currently there are about 17k CBSA officers. A CBSA officer makes about $100k, so $1B would be enough to hire 10,000 of them, increasing the workforce by about a third, with the new hires forming a dedicated remigration branch.
The federal government spends more than $1 BILLION dollars a year providing free healthcare for "asylum claimants" (illegal immigrants) through the IFHP. How many Remigration Enforcement Agents does that buy? How many flights to Punjab does that pay for? That's just one program!

So ten million people in Canada don't fell a strong sense of belonging to Canada. That's about the same number that the government invaded the country with over the last 20 years. I'm sure that's a coincidence though.

The logistics aren't that complicated. If you can come to Canada on a plane, you can leave Canada on a plane just as easily.

What Albertans voted for: - More provincial control over immigration - Proof of citizenship to vote - Banning non-permanent residents from social services - They must live in Alberta for 12 months before getting social support - They must pay a fee for social services

This is a huge mandate the Alberta government can use to put pressure on the federal government. Be bold. Demand the exact same powers over immigration policy that Quebec has. Protect Alberta against the wave of irresponsible immigration Carney is preparing.
BREAKING 🚨 All 5 Immigration related questions pass with significant support in the October 19th Alberta Referendum. Albertans are tired of mass immigration.

Yesterday's referendum teaches us a clear lesson: immigration restriction is much more popular and urgent than separation. This holds true in both Alberta and Quebec. We must put aside our differences and unite around the most important cause: Remigration.
Albert's independence bid has failed with 76.4% rejecting a separation referendum. Let's compare that to attitudes on immigration. A poll from 2024 found that 65% of Canadians said immigration was too high and 48% supported deportations. Those numbers might be even higher among white Canadian. The fundamental problem facing Canada is not jurisdiction division but demographic transformation via third world mass migration. There is a much bigger market to address that issue than there is for Alberta Independence. I view the Alberta Independence Movement as a Canadian version of Brexit, a massive project requiring enormous political capital which would ultimately fail to deliver the necessary change. The issue with both Brexit and Alberta Independence is that they view the problem as far of in Brussels or Ottawa when, in reality, it is omnipresent. Redrawing the map isn't going to eliminate it overnight. Remigration from Canada is a much easier sell than Alberta Independence and then Remigration from the newly independent Alberta. I fully understand why right-wingers in Alberta are discontent with the country, but their efforts would be better spent on the broader Canadian nationalist cause than an unpopular separatist movement. (All of this is applicable to Quebec too.)
